| Re: cbr929 I have done it as a precaution to avoid weakened sprocket teeth. Broken teeth or rounded teeth on a sprocket from improper tension can result in chain slippage on the sprocket. If the chain has improper tension and slips, the worst case scenario would be the chain could possibly break causing a rider to lose control and lay the bike down or come off and seize the rear wheel.
Of course this is a worst case scenario and chain breakage is highly unlikely, unless clip links are being used. |
