I'd pay less, even taking the aftermarket stuff into account.
Start low. You can always come up if you really want the bike.
A 600R from that year is going to be a lot closer to the F4i than the R6, especially comfort-wise. |
So I went by and checked the bike out today after work. (he happens to be extremely local to me which is nice) It definitely has some cosmetic damage the most serious of which is a small dent in the tank. It then has some scrapes and small cracks in the plastics. From 5-10 feet away it looks nice but when u get close the dmg clearly comes out. There does not appear to be any kind of serious dmg though, like nothing structural or to the forks, wheels, etc. He is the original owner and was very candid to say (before i even came by to see it) that it had been dropped before and cosmetically it was not perfect.
The tires are in good shape and the battery is new. He said the sprocket and all is fine but to be honest I wouldnt really know. The chain/sprocket is original. For a bike this age with 16k miles do these need to be replaced?
As far as price he is asking 4,500 but he will definitely come down from that.
So if you folks have some words of wisdom for me it would be great!
Also could anyone give me a round about idea of what it costs to replace/fix some of the cosmetic stuff on a 01 R6? I actually have a pretty good relationship with a body shop in town so that helps me
