| Re: WTB cbr 929 954 engine Case or blown engine I've got an entire motor minus a working tranny. No other issues with it. $500 takes the whole thing plus shipping. All perfect condition. |

| Re: WTB cbr 929 954 engine Case or blown engine You should never mix an upper and lower case.
They are cast as blanks then bolted together and line-bored and machined as one. That's why manufacturers dont sell them seperately.

| Re: WTB cbr 929 954 engine Case or blown engine That's what i thought, but i'm only using this as a stunt bike. I can't see them being so different that it wouldn't work.
I'll still go for the full case, but if the lower is all that's available, i'll try it, otherwise i have to weld a lower case that is badly broken around two of the mounts. |

| Re: WTB cbr 929 954 engine Case or blown engine Oil clearances are very small - 0.03-0.05mm - so the case doesn't have to be very far out to compromise oil pressure.
It's certainly possible to mix a set of cases if you take the time to measure all the clearances and take care to seal the mating surfaces of the the side covers.
Personally, I'd repair your existing case though.

| Re: WTB cbr 929 954 engine Case or blown engine I don't really have a problem doing some work to ensure a fit. I'd much rather do that than weld. If you saw the condition of this case, you'd understand. The bike was in an accident, and will not be put on the road again. One of the mounts is not repairable. We're trying to get a stunter out of it with minimal money invested. The only part i need to make it work that i can't make myself, is that case. I've already put alot of time into it, and i don't mind spending more. I have the tools and the skill to do the work, but i don't have the money to spend on expensive parts. As i said though, i'll take the whole case if i can afford it. Shipping costs will be the worst part. |

| Re: WTB cbr 929 954 engine Case or blown engine Shipping shouldn't be too bad.
I shipped a complete 954 engine (76kg including crating - no clutch or clutch cover) last year from the US air freight to Australia for under US$500. The dollar sucks now though so it'd probably be closer to A$700 if I did it now.

| Re: WTB cbr 929 954 engine Case or blown engine Considering this is a crashed bike that won't be on the road or track ever again, we're not willing to spend much cash on it. I'd rather wait and see what comes up than spend even $200 on shipping. I've found two blown engines for $175. I'd rather not spend more on shipping than the engine itself. I'm going to bring the case to my old boss, who is an incredible aluminum welder, to see if he thinks it's possible to patch up. Otherwise, i'll keep looking for cases. |

| Re: WTB cbr 929 954 engine Case or blown engine It just hit me... I shipped my old bike from Canada to The States for somewhere around $275. Why is an engine alone so expensive? |
