| Re: san fran area I don't live in that area but I've been stuck between Fairfield and Oakland a few times...
The biggest rush is North to South (on 80) in the mornings, and the reverse in the afternoons. (But once you're in the Bay Area proper, it's always thick)
I'd estimate 1-1.5hrs (conservative) from the Bay Bridge in Oakland to Fairfield during the rush. All bets are off if you do SFO. If Fairfield is your destination, I'd forget SFO. In fact, consider using Sacramento depending on which direction you're going at what time of day. |

| Re: san fran area What time? If you won't be in your car until 10 traffic won't be too bad anywhere.
SFO probably wouldn't be too bad actually, but Oakland is better/easier. If you come into SFO, take 101 North to the very beginning of I-80 East across the Bay Bridge.
From Oakland, you take 880--->580--->980---becomes I80. It sounds harder than it is. |

i will be going the opposite way during the rush. the hotel is around the bridge area and the job is in fairfield. mapquest said it was 30 miles or so, so I should be ok with the traffic then, right?
only in my dreams |

only in my dreams | You should be okay then. Except for Friday afternoon. Westbound Hwy 80 is worst on Friday afternoon than Monday morning. Everybody wants to go to San Francisco.
Good luck! |

| Re: san fran area what is the toll going on 80 from(to) Bridge to Fairfield?
is it just cents or is it like the GW in NY, where you have to take a loan out to cross over? |

| Re: san fran area Oh I wanna go soooooo bad. You have no idea. Good (or maybe bad) thing that my team at work is so smart/good b/c I'd have to shoot myself. Couple more years of this and I'm left-coast bound. Hopefully Cali.

I did some riding last Sunday and as soon as I got out of Fairfield, the Sun pop and the temperature went up at least 10 deg. San Francisco normally warmer than Inland during winter time, vice versa during summer. How long you here for? |
