Re: It's your local Track Whore and it's track time again!

Kind of long trackday report.

Well, even with a little mishap in the morning it was another fun day at the track!

Got to bed at midnight and woke up at 4 am to get ready to go to the track. By 4:30 am I had the truck and trailer all loaded up and I was enroute to a friend's house. It was drizzling and wet out. I was thinking to myself, man this is going to suck.

I got to my friend's house and picked up his Ducati. He doesn't have a way to transport it to the track. Me being the nice guy I am, I'm his hauler bitch.

Well, my friend straps down his Duc on the trailer and I tell him I'll met him at the track. I head out down the road, but two miles down the road I could see that the Duc was leaning a little. I turning a gas station to tak a look at the Duc. Well, the shift in weight during the turn, made the Duc fall over into the 954. I saw the whole thing happen in the rear view mirror.

It looked like the inside strap loosened up and let the Duc lean to the outside. Because of the shift in weight during turning and the loosened inside strap, it allowed the Duc to tip over to the outside and unhook the outside strap. This then allowed the connected outside strap to act as a rubberband and pull the Duc towards my 954 and made the Duc slam into the side of it.

The Duc survived with no damage. The 954 has a hole in the right lower fairing where the Duc's clip-on went through it. That was all the damage that was done to it. Man, I feel very lucky since it could have been alot worse!

I restrapped the Duc on the trailer and I'm off again. I learned something new today. Always check and recheck the straps, if you did not install them.

Well, I get to the track by 6 am and start unloading and setting up. By 7 am, it stops raining. Due to the rain we got a late start, but the track went hot at 8:30 am. The sky is clearing up and we can see a little blue sky.

The track was still wet during the first two sessions, but by 10:30 am the sun was shining and the track was dry! By the afternoon the temps were in the low 70's.

Man, what a great day at the track. I was feeling great and set my personal best time for this track. My old best was 1:07.89 and my new best is 1:05.98. I almost drop two seconds!!!

All I have to say is you Arizona guys missed out on a great trackday!!!

Glad the mishap wasn't any worse, and especially glad you had fun at the track. I'm always totally paranoid about those tie-downs!

Loading it now, thanks!

Out of all the tracks you've been to, how would you rate it? We might be interested in adding it to the schedule in '06

Blimey that bike has some go. Any idea what it is Rick? I liked the compression lockups too where the camera swings left and right.

What else, a Fireblade CBR1000RR!

Speed - I've only been to AMP, Firebird West, Firebird East, Firebird Main and Arroyo Seco, so take my write up with a grain of salt.

AMP is my personal favorite, but it's still closed. I would rate Firebird East as my second choice, then Arroyo Seco, then Firebird West and finally last Firebird Main.

Firebird East is a very short and fast track. It is very technical, but once you learn the lines you can really pick up the speed. I think it would be would be worth the trip for you. Make sure you ride with TeamAZ, not AZTrackday. TeamAZ runs a tighter ship and a safer track.

Cool, thanks a bunch. I'm involved with a newer track day org.... http://takeit2thetrack.net . For this season we have Spring Mountain- Pahrump, Buttonwillow, Thunderhill, & Reno-Fernly. We'll are looking to add quite a few more dates for next season, and will be adding some other venues as well. Your feed back is apreciated, and needed so we can be sure to secure time at tracks people like best.

I like tight, technical tracks. Firebird East looks like fun, especially in that video with the CBR100RR!
