929 (with passenger) vs. Honda S2000

Went for a quick jaunt yesterday with a friend that asked me to take her on a ride. Went up to Moskowite Corner near lake Berryessa, tons of bikes. Probably 20 at the store... I felt old as my 2001 929 was the oldest sport bike at the store....

Left and went towards Napa on Hwy 128 and then turned down Wooden Valley Rd. toward Fairfield. When we got back up to Vacaville and took Pleasants Valley Rd back into Winters when we came up behind a new Honda S2000. He was doing okay but when we came up behind he picked up the pace some. In a couple spots just floored it but there really wasn't much point in it and his acceleration didn't last long. Then he began hitting the gas mid-corner to see if the twisty road would shake me and my passenger. I was riding VERY conservatively just so you know. He would gap a little in the corner because of the pretty conservative riding I was doing but nothing worth mentioning. If you know that road there are a couple spots with some really tight 90 degree turns with flashing lights and signs that say 15 mph... We came up to one and he was braking but then as soon as we started into the turn he was gassing it. Towards the exit I could hear his tires squealing.... he was pulling away from us but then the back end of the S2000 started to come around. He quickly counter steered but overcorrected sending his car spinning in the road. When he came to a stop he was facing us and I had plenty of time to slow down. It was some older guy out testing his new toy. I gave him a big thumbs up and kept going. He had a half-hearted smile on his face. Must be difficult to smile with poop in your pants.

My mouthpiece owns one of those cars, a silver one. It's shockingly fast (at least it seems so to me).

Too bad you didn't have it on film so you could turn him in.... Wouldn't have been pretty if a bike (or even a car) had been coming the other way when he lost it.

I thought about that too... there was another tight turn right after that with a one-lane bridge so I would bet that anyone coming around that turn would have been able to either stop or get out of the way. There was plenty of shoulder available but for sure he was clearly driving beyond his ability.

Dude, you need to call me some time when you go riding.

On the other hand, I need to call you, too!

Yet another case of bling being mistaken for ability.

Yeah and I would almost bet you'd hear him in the office or someplace with his friends..

"Yeah I had a guy on a sportbike try to hang with me. He was on my 6 and I stayed in front of him the whole time, I finally spun out, but prior to that I had his #" I've heard this crap from people before, it's always a good laugh too

The S2000 makes a GREAT motorcycle video chase vehicle.

There are MANY reasons why the S2000 is as expensive to insure as a Corvette.

Would've been even worse if the bike speeding behind the car on a public road happened to torpedo the car in a turn, taking everyone out.
