Cal-Sportbike BBQ Party on July 15th (SoCal)

SoCal riders are invited to Cal-Sportbike's summer BBQ party in the mountains on Saturday, July 15th from 12 noon...

John Ryti (Ducman851 on most boards) will be slaving at the grill again, and as always, all food and beverages are complimentary!

In addition to store discounts and us giving away a ticket to one of our track events at either Willow Springs or Spring Mountain, we are also going to be looking for some unique bikes....a $75 store certificate will be awarded in each of 3 different categories at 2PM;

1) Oldest running bike to show up
2) Best customized bike
3) Best Ducati

(#2 and #3 as judged by Ducman851 and I in our infinite wisdom and good taste)...

You can Mapquest your way to Cal-Sportbike here:
Map of 1255 Apple Ave Wrightwood, CA by MapQuest

Directions the old way....

If you're coming from IE, take I-15 north to 138 west (Palmdale/Silverwood Lake). Go 8 miles to Highway 2 west (Wrightwood/Big Pines). Go 5 miles until you hit Wrightwood. Just past the gas station, turn left up Park Drive (small town double-wide main street with angled parking and all shops). Go to top of street at stop sign. You will see us in front of you and slightly right.

If you're coming from ACH the back way....

Take Upper Big Tujunga down from ACH to Angeles Forest Highway. Turn right and go to Mt Emma. Turn Right. Go to Ft Tejon. Turn Right. It will end at the Abbey Road. Make a left and then immediate right (50') on Big Pines Highway (N4). Take Big Pines up the twisties, past Jackson Lake, and hit Highway 2 at Mountain High Ski Resort. Turn left, go down about 3 miles into town. Just after the elementary school, turn right on Pine, up to stop sign, left on Apple, and look for us on the right as you hit downtown (about 150' from the stop sign).

Some come on up to the mountains and join us for some food and fun, looking at bikes and showing off yours!

Re: Cal-Sportbike BBQ Party on July 15th (SoCal)

Heard that the connection to AFH may be closed. Something about the road being closed N. of Newcombs? Is this a factor?

Was considering this route from Palmdale:

AFH

BigT

ACH

Big Pines. (then IN)

What is wrong with the road that you are routing people up and around ACH?

Re: Cal-Sportbike BBQ Party on July 15th (SoCal)

ACH is closed from above Waterman to about 6 miles up from Wrightwood for erosion damage. So sadly the Crest will not likely reopen until 2007 if we're lucky...So if you're taking AFH off the 14/Pearblossom junction, then I think you have to take AFH to Mt Emma to Ft Tejon and then over to Big Pines...
