Just somethin funny I noticed | It's a SOCal thing.
NorCal doesn't do the "the". |

| Re: Anybody here live near Edwards AFB? When I was a youngster I used to go prospecting out there. We made a stop on the way in and the way out at Crazy Otto's to pig out on some of the biggest plates of food you could imagine. ( one omlette is like...... a 1/2 dozen eggs ) . There's a few locations but the best one is definitely the one located on 20th and Avenue K (west). It has been voted the best breakfast in town for 13 straight years!! |

Just somethin funny I noticed | You have it slightly wrong... we don't add the I in front, and that is for all Californians. We just call it "5" (norcal) or "the 5" (socal). Even the state highways, we were smart enough that they are all unique numbers... there is no "Route 138" or "Highway 138". Just "138" or "the 138". We don't have to differentiate since there are no state roads with the same numbers as the bazillion interstates (x80, x10, xx5, xx8, x15, x40).
I grew up in NorCal laughing at the Southland. Now I live here, and I was assimilated very quickly. "The" has become part of the vernacular. AZ doesn't even do it like we do. |

The lines are generally anything from the Bay Area and North is NorCal, Monterey down to San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara would be Central California, and then everything south would be SoCal.
There was even an effort about a decade or more ago to put an initiative on the ballot to split the state into 3. Mainly due to farmers in the central valley being pissed that SoCal was getting all the water. I failed miserably.
I grew up in NorCal, going progressively farther north as I got older. I am a 5th generation Californian, which is pretty old as far as things go out here. I never thought that I would be living in SoCal, but the Navy moved me here, and San Diego is not anything like LA, which is what most people think of when they hear 'SoCal'. I don't think I will be leaving anytime soon. |

WTF?!?!?!? | Yea, WTF? I had to start the truck and let it warm up a few mins before I went to work at 6am today. You know it's cold when the temp gauge in the truck reads "ICE" and not an actual temp. |

| Re: Anybody here live near Edwards AFB? Well, I made it to Cali. Someone turned on the A/C. Damn it is cold here. I met Majave and his daughter for a bite to eat at In-n-Out Burger. It was great to meet someone from the org. Heck of a nice guy. Also thanks for suggesting the burger joint. I will be going there again before I leave.
Thanks again Majave.... |

Thanks again Majave.... | No problem man. Nice to meet a fellow org. member. Too bad you don't have the time to rent a bike and enjoy SOCAL. Maybe next time. |
