| California Spec. Bike I may be moving to California and was wondering if I have to make any changes to my 49 state bike? Or does it not matter? |

| Re: California Spec. Bike I don't think so. I think there's some restrictions on registering a 49 state model, something about needing a certain number of miles on it, meaning you've owned it for awhile, as opposed to trying to import a new bike to the state. Anyone from CA want to confirm? |

| Re: California Spec. Bike It doesn't matter as long as the bike has a minimum amount of mileage (I think it's 7000 miles). There are currently no smog checks for bikes in CA. If you meet the minimum mileage requirement it's an easy registration and you're all set. CA DMV
edit: Beat me to it, HGT. You are correct.

But if you live in CA and buying a 49 State model bike, then you need to have a minimum of 7500 miles to register the bike. Don't know where El Centro is, must be down in Southern CA. I'm in Northern CA (Bay Area).
Good luck

| Re: California Spec. Bike Yes, El Centro is definitely Southern California...any further south and you will be in Mexico. I live about 170 miles NW of El Centro. I think you are going to have to ride for about an hour to find any good roads for a streetbike. However, if you are into quads, dirtbikes, 4wd, or boats you got it made. |

| Re: California Spec. Bike Ahhh El Centro........
I spent two years there..stationed at the air station in Seeley...8 miles west of EC....
HOT during the summers....great sunsets in the winter.....Nothing to do!
Take 8 west jto Ocitillio wells and head north.. to siziors crossing then up the grade to Julian...and find your way to Palomar......GOD's country |
