| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * I read this post over and over now! I was going to hold my tongue but I can't. I've been here in Iraq now for almost five years. Many call me a hero for my actions in several fire-fights. To me I don't feel like a hero for doing my job. So for some clown to call this Kat a hero just got under my skin. What the hell!!! What the hell is a hero these days? I'm just pissed that hero was even mentioned.

Sadly enought it's horrible accidents like this that helps others realize how dangerous unsafe riding can be. It's a real wakeup call to keep your speed within reason and see what the consequences of insane riding can be. |

Gear won't help much at extreme speeds look at the last picture, head and helmet were both torn in half. I came off my bike in running shoes, jeans and no gloves. Because I was riding slowly my clothing did not even get one mark. and the only place I lost skin was on my elbow even though I was wearing a leather bike jacket. Quote:

"If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
Some scholars say that the context infers that Jesus means the same sin. Therefore how can you condemn someone when you are also guilt of the same thing? Quote:

Exactly. After seeing these pictures and those absoutely horrible ones on Live to Ride, Ride to Die I'm slowing down. I've also decided to buy some leathers. Sometimes I wonder if it's all worth it but my love for riding keeps me coming back. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * Well I'm not going to judge this kid. He made a mistake and has paid with his life. Leaving his family to deal with this. I do have to say these pics are burned into my memory forever. And that is probably a good thing. We all speed that's a fact but you just gotta know when and where to do it.
Ride safe y'all!!!!
I do like the saying "stupid hurts" though. I think I'm gonna get t-shirts made with that saying. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * Speeding is one thing, riding like the Devil is looking for it. Yes we all have need for speed. We all crave the free ride. But if you think that you can speed all the way and get away all the time you are .
NO matter how good you are. Some of us lost FRIENDS this way.
It is not the speed but the decision that kills, another time and nothing would have happend. I SPEED when I get the chance. But MOST of the time it is not the right time. If I slam into some object it is my fault. Or did I scan the road and adjusted to the road conditions?
Speed responsible but do not make a Hero out of someone that made a silly mistake. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * Veteran racer Kenny Roberts Sr.was asked once why he quit top level road racing in the early 80's . His answer was succinct and to the point," My racing vision couldn't keep up with the speeds needed to win." Many of these extreme throttle twisters are in the same category today, they just don't have the sense to realize they have already pushed through their talent envelope. Crashes like this will continue because this sport remains a game of inches. You need to take care of yourself. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * What are you retarded? There was no sport involved, not only was he not a racer he squided off ahead of everyone else he was riding with. There is no sport involved even when it's racing on the street. If you want to participate in motorsports start a race team become a pro rider.
This kid was an unfortunate victim of new rider without any experience who never had a chance to hang with cooler headed poeple who might have said something that may have gotten through to him and saved his life. |

The fact that the dumbass on the bike was going over twice the speed limit, at night, had nothing to do with it. |

Edit: Looks like Conq beat me, but we agree.

This kid was an unfortunate victim of new rider without any experience who never had a chance to hang with cooler headed poeple who might have said something that may have gotten through to him and saved his life. | Nope, last time I checked I was pretty much in the groove with everyone else. You should be careful when speaking about developmentally disabled people. The point to be made here is that the kid simply rode through his talent envelope. Everyone has a limit on talent when it comes to high speed..........even experienced track riders........... |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * Just checkin mate because you used the term sport. Motorsports have no business on the street. Of course it is possible you may not have read all 3 pages of posts and the news article and realized I know some people who were close to this guy since it happened in my neck of the woods.
And developmentally challenged give me a break retardation is an accepted medical term. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * I was getting ready for an overnite trip to Galena ,Il. I took my only bike without a headlight modulator (K1200rs) and thought twice about taking another bike.
In Dixon ,Il I had just left an intersection and a woman pulled out from a parking lot about 20-25 ft in front of me. Hit the car flew 6 feet straight up (what witnesses say). She never saw me.
Fortunetly only broke an arm and injured rotator cuff..
Classic ,classic accident .
I think if I had a modulator she might have seen me. My black very kool jacket I'am sure didn't help.
Moral: Do anything to be seen. |
