Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash Overnight Tuesday April 17, 2007 11:07am Posted By: Kevin King
Tulsa - A Broken Arrow man was killed early Tuesday morning after a motorcycle accident on Highway 169 near 81st Street.
Witnesses say the cyclist was going faster than 100 miles per hour when he crashed into the back of a semi truck between 81st and 91st Street at about one o'clock Tuesday morning.
Investigators say evidence shows the cyclist was going about 120 miles per hour at the time of the impact. It took the truck driver more than a quarter of a mile to come to a stop. When he did, he stepped out of his rig and found the motorcyclist dead at the back of the truck.
"The truck driver was not hurt," says Captain Matt Kirkland. "He said that the impact was so strong that he thought he was hit from behind by another truck."
Officers said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * Like the bad r1 accident in romania,it all comes down to speed on the public roads,Lucky he didnt kill some innocent family or person,as in both accidents the bikes were completely destroyed(indicating fast speeds),imagine one of them coming full noise at you!!. Ride within your limits, not someone else's.

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * Man...this is so sad. I live in Tulsa and I heard that his friend got killed on the same highway just a mile or so behind him from a motorcycle wreck the day after his funeral? Thats so sad. I am a biker and this really wakes me up. Hopefully these deaths will prompt others to slow down. RIP. My condolences to the family. |

But in reality he's just another idiot like all the idiots that will crash and die like this in time to come.
It looks like the cause of death (apart from instant deceleration) is a snapped spine. The shoulders and neck have moved forward as the lower chest was kept back.
What is the speed limit on the highway there? 60mph? So if he collided into the rear of a truck at 120 his impact speed would've only been 60.
It looks like he was riding a kwaka. Not that that means anything. |

Yeah it's 65 MPH down Highway 169. Not much traffic at 1am. My brother has rode with him a time or two...says he's really good guy...just made a dumb decision. |

Indeed he is an idiot,he payed the ultimate price.....RIP
We are not MOTOGP riders and the streets are not race tracks, have fun, enjoy your ride, get out on the track and see how you go,last thing you need is this to happen.
Far from a hero........ |

Anyone who dies to save another life is a hero in my book. My cousin died in Iraq...he died saving a little baby...he's a hero. This guy had to die to wake people up. He is a hero. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * I will slow down to anything that can potentially kill me. Always have always will. Don't really need pictures to illustrate the obvious, my imagination is good enough. Sorry for him but I can't figure out how this accident could happen to anyone with a minimum of survival instinct.. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * Just came from being @ an accident. Kid was riding a endro on 2 lane rt. Watched him go thru intersection above the speed limit 35mph turned left to my destination & he's on the raod 50' from his bike laying on it side, middle of the road screaming @ WOT. He's trying to get up. Wife was driving had her stop I jump out motion for him to STAY DOWN. Could get to kill switch B4 eng siezed. He has some road rash & was wearing helmet. A car pulled out of the shopping center we were headed to. She kept going, but did stop just up the road. He'll be alright was wearing any other gear but helmet. Hope he learns too slow down. I did tell the police what I saw. I just helped until the medics & police showed up & went my way. |

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * It will not change how I ride one bit. I dont go slower because I see people riding slowly and I dont speed up if I see a Ricky racer on the road. I pay attention to what I'm doing and ride within my limits. That may or may not be faster than someone else.
As for the "hero" concept, I dont see it that way. His speed exceeded his skill, awareness and reaction level. Dumb move.

| Re: Motorcyclist Killed After High-Speed Crash * WARNING PICTURES * you are right to say it is all about responsibility, and maturity, I crashed at over 100 MPH on the Drag Strip, resulting in zero 0 injuries to me, and was able to ride the bike home 35 miles. This poor guy was addicted to the thing that killed him. Irresponsibly trading his life for some thrill of making the white dashed lines into a steady white line. 120 mph or so, I guess. SPEED KILLS!!
I had a lot of fun going tremendous speeds, and lived to tell about it because I went racing at a race facility. (No Trucks doing 65 in my way!)
Still feel for any family he left behind. I have friends that have been killed- it SUCKS. |
