| MY POOR POOR BLADE (Bloody cars) well its a sad day my 98 rrw blade finally rests on its way to the wrecker in short a 16 yr old girld in daddies 4wd was parked on left side of rd (nz so yes different side of rd to the US) and as i was approaching heading up the left lane she did a u turn without lights and indicators as i approached 10 m behind her in short there was no way either side of her (left anpther parked car , right a pedestrian crossing island . so all in all i hit her just behind the drivers door and my head went through the drivers window results her 32 stitches to her head due to a head but from my hemlet hitting her window and me 3 stitches under my chin from flying glass and a written off blade not bad for 50 km per hour. here is what one witness behind me said
"""" Regarding Witness to Vehicle Crash Monday XXXXXXXX At or around 6.20-6.30 pm last night I was following about 50 m behind a motorcycle along Heaton Street close to St Georges Hospital Christchurch. It was dark and light rain was falling. A large silver/grey 4wd vehicle registration plate beginning with Yi that did not have any lights on suddenly pulled out in front of the motorcycle, it did not indicate either, running over the bike and I had thought the rider as well. The vehicle then proceeded to continue driving over the motorcycle and still with its lights off drive down the road about 50 metres past the accident site. I initially thought it was going to drive off completely and not stop. I then pulled over and stopped and got out of my vehicle and checked that the motorcycle rider was ok who was a young man, gave him my business card as I had to be somewhere and offered to be a witness to the incident. There were approximately 3-4 other people there as well. I also saw that the 4wd vehicle was driven by an asian women with long hair. in short she was not insured and her daddy decided to pay me out so she was not insurance black listed |

| Re: MY POOR POOR BLADE (Bloody cars) it looks like you have found a positive to pull from the experience. I think things are going to change with fuel prices getting higher more people will start using bikes and as such we are going to see a lot more of this sort of thing - sadly. 4WD's are bad enough car to car let alone "bike to 4WD" that punching way above your weight and your lucky it was not worse! |

| Re: MY POOR POOR BLADE (Bloody cars) Glad to hear that you are ok. Similar thing happened to me in '94 when a unlicenced mid-50's russian lady pulled out from a centre median into my lane. Nowhere for me to go except into the back right of her car. I was travelling about 60kmh.
Result, compound fractures of my left radius and ulna bones (that went through my Dianese jacket!), broken bones in my left hand, dislocated right wrist and 3 weeks in hospital for me, titanium plates and skin grafts. 3 operations total.
Not even so much as an apology from her. She even claimed that the left front of her car was so badly damaged that it needed a new radiator support panel. Riiiiiight. After my motorbike was extensively written off, it them proceeded to ride by itself around to the opposite corner of the car and damage it so badly that it needed a new rad support bar. She was charged by the cops, but I still had to pay my $1000 insurance excess b/c her insurance dropped her. Over here, we can't sue like it can be done in the 'states. Had I been able to, I probably would have gotten $100K!
Oh well....all is fixed now, and the plates have been removed (in '95). I just have a few manly scars to show everyone!
Biatches.... (that excludes the lovely female members on all bike forums who ride bikes!). |

| Re: MY POOR POOR BLADE (Bloody cars) Time For an update i flicked on the Rc51 and bought a 2006 Cbr1000rr with 50 km on it it had been a test bike at the local honda shop ... they gave me an extended 2 year warranty so i'm happy there was a 2007 model same kms for 2g more but the only diff between 06 and 07 is a black swingarm.. to me it's not worth the 2g diff in price so up and up.
Took it for a blat the other day (400km) just a mall ride
anyway rode her to work yesterday and on the way home i had an xj1300 pull up next to me so being in the spirit i gave him a small run between lights and holy **** low and behold at 4500rpm i lifted that wheel right up off the gorund man this bike is evil in its power band too much throttle...
the throttle is a hell of a more responsive than either the rc51 or the 919blade was |

| Re: MY POOR POOR BLADE (Bloody cars) Oh man. Sad one. I have been hit by an asian "on-the-phone" woman in the rear tyre once, I was just lucky enought to balance it out. There is this big motorway turn on Pakuranga, and if u are going from Botany direction then u can turn left and give way, while i was rolling in the line waiting for my turn this lady just moved into my spot on the lane hitting my rear wheel and pushing me forwatds. I let her overtake me as we went out on the highway and smashed her side mirror off. I hope that will make her look left when changing lanes.
Anyway im glad u are ok, and congrats with a new bike. |
