| my lowside today I lowsided today when my front tire clipped a curb on the street. I was going about 20MPH.
Damage:
5" metal frame slider bent 90 degrees and ground down
front fairing - a little paint worn off the edge
mid fairing - very light scratches to paint and decal
lower right - bad scratches and hole worn through
pipe - super light rash to mounting straps
bar end - scratches
right mirror - scratched
front and rear rim - slight rash on lip
Me:
forearm of leather jacket worn through, no skin damage
hip rash down to the meat
Where can I get touchup paint for yellow 2000 CBR929?? I can't find it anywhere... |

| Re: my lowside today I had to go into an outside lane to avoid road debris, and well... that lane came to a dead end and I clipped the curb trying to get back onto the road.
I had jeans on but the rash was due to my jacket being a bit short and riding up... The Frank Thomas Strike doesn't have waist adjustment and it fits a little short. Not a good combo without zippered riding pants.
Any jacket suggestions to avoid this? |

| Re: my lowside today Sorry to hear that. That especially sucks since you WERE wearing your jacket. Color Rite Distributing Co. will work perfect for some touch up paint. |

| Re: my lowside today That sucks man. I guess your ok but you don't look bandaged up. Did you go see the doc? If you didn't you should. Nasty scraps like that need professional attention. How'd you do this at 20 mph?...watching a babe cross the street?
I hope it all works out, your scrapes and the bike repair. Keep us apprised of how it all turns out.
Sorry. |

Any jacket suggestions to avoid this? | When I wrecked (I highsided, but the bike lowsided, if that makes sense) at about 30 mph, my brother said I looked like a rugby ball rolling on the ground. The cause of my lowside was riding outside of my skill level and I didn't see the road debris because it was nighttime (night riding is a skill), as I was rolling sedately through a curved on-ramp to the highway. The loose rocks and gravel caused the rear tire to get squirrely, I caught it for a second then the bike threw me as it straightened up. Dislocated my shoulder and got a few scrapes on my knee and ankles. My jacket, jeans, and helmet kept me from getting seriously injured. My Alpinestars jacket got scuffed up, but is still usable, it didn't hike up or anything, here's the link: TZ-1 Leather Jacket - Alpinestars Official Store |

| Re: my lowside today I recently purchased some touch up paint from Color Rite, and had it sprayed onto a damaged area of my tail section by a pro. The color wasn't even close, I now have a totally different color silver tail section. I guess I'm just going to buy a new one from Honda when I have the money.
Wouldn't go with Color Rite. |

| Re: my lowside today Get riding pants is the best solution. 360 zip better, one piece the ultimate. Most Sport jackets are cut that way. Maybe if you find a touring jacket it may go lower (but you likely loose armor). Bummer on the wound but that should heal fairly fast (and sting like heck for a few days). Overall sounds like an oopsie that was not to bad. Might want to switch frame sliders though, unless it caught the curb bending one would seem strange. Also seems a bit strange that you could wear a jacket through at that speed (thankfully it did its job) so I would consider swapping brands on that or at least check the new one for thickness and leather quality vs the one you have (hopefully you never find out but just in case you ever use one at a faster clip) |

| Re: my lowside today In Color-Rite's defense...silver is the HARDEST color to match. It is mainly aluminium flakes and unless it is sprayed the EXACT same way as the factory finish the metal will not lay the same direction as original(you have to use the same pressure, distance from object, nozzle size, direction of spay and spray pattern)...i'm not knock'n your painter here LONGBREAKDOWN...just stating what i know of the subject
Sorry to hear of your fall DETOUR...

Look around and see just how many silver cars there are with panels that don't match up. |

Kind of a golden rule with me, mainly b/c I don't want the damned thing to get stolen. I feel for you, though, I really do. That sort of thing would leave me in a bad mood all day. |
