| Can woman drive? Hi all. I haven't posted in a while. Had a bad day yesterday, as it seems that my bike is a wreck. On my way home driving as i always do with causion. traveling down a 2 lane road in one direction with a center curb then the other 2 lane in the other direction. Got to an intersection with no stop for me. As I got closer I saw this lady in her big SUV trying to turn into the other direction lane from the intersetion. I slowed down, but she just kept on going. I tried to steer away from the SUV but she just put foot and i impact on the front right hand conner of the SUV. Went flying over the hood and landed on the otherside of the SUV. Bike went sping with the SUV's bumper stuck in the side of my bike. I didn't realize at first what happend, but realized she never saw me as she was checking the oncoming traffic from the other direction. Amazingly i didn't break anything just a few scratches. The gear i was wearing really worked.
My baby on the other hand, well by the looks of it she will be a write off. I hope not but i think the damage is just to big. Would love to get her back, but only time will tell.
People still don't recognize bikers on the roads, for them we are still a thread. There is this big light driving towards you but you don't see it? Motorist are so set to only watch out for 2 head lights and ignore the one light of a bike. AFTER ALL THAT I WILL RIDE AGAIN!!! |

its just not woman who can't drvie its men as well i have had a few car crashers nothing really big and im allways looking for bikers. If you can see a bike then you can see a car.
but some times you just don't see other cars or bikers
most people just don't understand that bikes can take off quicker than most cars and most bikers dont really do the speed limit (i know i don't im allways a little bit over). so don't just give up riding just take it to the track or the dirt.. |

Will wait for the insurace to see what's up. And if they do scrap the bike, i'll just have to shop around again. Sad though. |

| Re: Can woman drive? It may be harsh but in all my driving experience of cars and bikes, women are the worse of drivers. Thats my opinion and my experience. I think its just the fact they like to talk (cellphone), put make up on, got the kids in the back, dog is jumping on their lap, smokin a cigarette, and finishing off that burger. They are too busy doing other things while they are supposed to be DRIVING.
But anyways sucks about your wreck, glad you're alright. The bright headlight bit pisses me off. During the day, go ahead ride the highbeam. But at night? Keep the lowbeam. Not on every occasion but most the time. Especially when out riding with friends. I have a friend that NEVER turns his highbeam off. Doesnt matter the situation its on highbeam. When I ride with him I always fall behind a good deal to avoid getting blinded with my mirrors by his light. |

Oh, one last thing. The title should read: Can women drive? | Looks like you need to freshen up on your grammar as well. Starting with the use of the word 'capitol'. You were referring to the large letter usually at the beginning of a sentence, which is capital. |

| Re: Can woman drive? How about a TRUCKERS point of view? In my honest opinion, women have more accidents because of MULTITASKING. Kids in the car, talking whatever. Men have an accidents because of ROAD RAGE and "over confidence". That is, a guy is more likely to be caught thinking "I can make this turn before the biker gets here...." . I see a LOT of accidents guys and gals. And I will tell you that its pretty even all around. Womens accidents just get more notice because, and I hate to say it ladies but deep down some of you know its true, womens accident tend to be so dumb that guys cant resist bringing them up in groups and laughing about them. Nothing funny about the guy who got pissed in the parking lot and ran a teenager down, but, the woman on the cell phone who jumped a curb trying to write down a phone number and got her car stuck hanging from the grounding wire of a utility pole? Now that is something that people wont mind bringing up for a giggle. NOT SAYING ALL WOMEN ARE LIKE THAT. But like it or not, you hear of that happening to women more than men. You want short tempered jerks running each other off the road, you talk about male drivers. Just my opinion on the "war of the sex: driver edition". Really sucks that your bike got the bang bro. Dont think it would have been any better regardless of WHAT was driving. Hope your insurance takes good care of you so that you can ride again soon!

As far as truckers...the knights of the road...I always try and give them lots of room, and if they want to come over into my lane, I flash my lights to let them in. |

Fox | Good to hear. If I see other cars being idiots and not letting the truck in, even when he/she has had the blinker on for quite some time, I'll even back off a bit to block the lane for them, then flash my lights when it's clear. My Dad drove for a living and he taught me that when I first got my license. |

| Re: Can woman drive? I loved the flow of conversation in this thread. You folks got stuck on spelling for a rather long time. As to the topic at hand, generally speaking PEOPLE are way too comfortable with driving. Face it, with todays automobiles and their features the driver does not have to do much. We all do it on our drive to work, school, anywhere really we go on autopilot and we are much less liable to "check" as well as we should befor we make a move. This is how bikes get plowed. In regards to the gender issue, I agree with our fellow trucker in that its not the mistake itis the type of mistake. In my experience of riding and driving I see male accidents caused by agression and ballziness while female accidents are caused by carelesness or lack of skill. And not to be a jerk but honestly the latter is far more prevalent. Especially in my area where there are alot of higher income people and generally the women drive these HUGE suv's or sedans that they can barely see over the wheel not to mention handle. In the last month there have been two bike accidents in my area. The first, a middle aged lady pulled out in her escalade infront of a gsxr in the same manner as this threads originator and he plowed into her door. Unfortunately he did not make it. The second on a downhill stretch an older lady in a minivan did a lane change into a yamaha, didn't catch the model. From the looks of it the rider should have survived. Of course the counter argument is that there are alot of riders out there that ride like asses and put everyone in danger. I just thought I'd put in my 0.02. |

| Re: Can woman drive? Regarding the original poster's spelling and grammar, I would suggest we be careful before we judge and criticize willy nilly. Down here, there are 11 official languages, English, Afrikaans(mixture of germanic/dutch/flemish/native) and the rest are made up of traditional ethnic languages like Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, etc. I may be wrong but I am guessing that TheOne's mother tongue language is Afrikaans. So that accounts for his spelling errors. So let's go easy on the guy, fellas. you yanks also tend to have weird spelling, for eg. the word color is spelt without the 'u'.
Regarding women drivers, I have one question. Down here in a country where you have the 'haves' and the 'have nots', whatever you want to call it, it is very common to find upper income SWF driving their million Rand SUV's without any passengers just to get to the local shopping mall and back, while one third of the population, mainly black, live in squalor and desperate poverty. to top this, these SUV lady drivers display an attitude of such arrogance and wanton disregard for other motorists. Why do these females do this sort of thing? It makes me sick to the stomach. Most of them, btw, are self employed, live in posh, elite suburbs with multimillion Dollar mansions and do nothing in the way of contributing to the poor here. it's all about self enrichment. Foreign donations and relief for the poor only comes from overseas donors like the US. Bless your country on that score. Sorry to be so longwinded but i'm glad I can share this on this forum. Btw,the saying that men who drive big cars, have small penises, can the same be applied to these women except the penis bit? I wonder. |
