| Squid kills himself and passenger in car.. Assisted local police in this wreck.. Squid was going about 120mph in a 25mph when he hit the car with no helmet and shorts and a short sleeve shirt... The damage to the car was total.. Police say speed was factor in deadly motorcycle crash By Mark Schnyder LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- Two people were killed after a motorcycle hit a car in the Portland neighborhood in the city's west end about 8:15 p.m. Monday. Authorities say speed was a factor, and as WAVE 3's Mark Schnyder explains, people who live in that area say they see cars speeding all too often.
Police say 19-year-old Bradley Gene Winbun was going way too fast on Bank Street when he slammed into a car turning on to Bank from 24th, killing 21-year-old Tammy Peterson.
Winbun was catapulted at least 50 feet after T-boning the Pontiac, and was pronounced dead at the scene; Peterson was taken to University Hospital where she died about 9 p.m.
Peterson was from Arkansas, but was a student at Shawnee Baptist College in New Albany.
Police say it doesn't appear Winbun was wearing a helmet. "At this time, we haven't been able to locate a helmet," said metro police spokesperson Alicia smiley.
Two other young women in the car weren't injured.
The residential neighborhood has a posted 25 mile-per-hour posted speed limit, but people who live there say it's not unusual to see people going twice that fast -- even at night.
"They get ripping on down there from red light to red light, a lot of people do," said Mike Brewer, who told us he has lived in the area for 20 years. "I have to holler at them to slow down all the time. We got kids playing out here and stuff."
People who live near the crash scene say Winbun practically grew up on Bank Street even though he had a Payne Street address.
Bank Street was closed for several hours while police cleared the scene.
Residents hope the horrible scene will remind people to slow down. "I've seen drag races on this street many a time," Brewer said.
Police confirm speeding is an issue on Bank Street, and say they have patrol cars there from time to time camped out specifically to catch speeders. Online Reporter: Mark Schnyder |

| Re: Squid kills himself and passenger in car.. That does blow. I bet that what they are not mentioning was the car was making the turn with no signal did not yeild to oncomming traffic probably ran the stop sign etc etc. May be wrong about all that but I see that a lot where they just happen to forget it wouldnt have happened if the driver of the car didn't disregard some traffic law. |

| Re: Squid kills himself and passenger in car.. See I never said he was doing something wrong or was not at least partly at fault. You people never read anything. I just said many times the reporting is very biased towards the bike being at fault.
Edit: Oh and saying well maybe if ie want speeding etc etc is a lot like saying well maybe if the girl wasnt dressed like a slut at a singles bar at 2am drunk she wouldnt have gotten raped. |

| Re: Squid kills himself and passenger in car.. If your going to speed DON'T be an idiot and do it in the city. I would rather be doing 150 on a back road and kill myself than take a life along with me...too bad. That really sucks |

The girl who gets attacked and raped may have made herself more appealing to her attacker, but she didn't actually do anything. A guy doing roughly 120...well, the key word there is "doing." He actually did something. Quote:

That really sucks | I'm in 100% agreement with you on that. I still occasionally ride like a total moron with a death wish on back roads, but only when I'm by myself. I'm talking no passengers, and no other riders with me either. And when I'm in a car, it's the same deal. I don't really drive crazy at all, but when I have a passenger, I'm WAAAY more cautious than normal. |

| Re: Squid kills himself and passenger in car.. Man at 120mph the bike rider was 100% at fault.
I don't care what anyone else thinks about it, at 25mph you can bee seen from far enough off and see far enough ahead that there won't be any unavoidable surprises, but you come boogeying down a 25mph route at 120mph odds are the car probably saw a completely clear path to turn out in the bike probably wasn't even visble to the car. |

| Re: Squid kills himself and passenger in car.. 120mph in a 25mph zone? What the hell? My god, that's crazy. Me nor ANY of the guys I ride with would never reach a speed that high, especially in the city.
Good god, that guy wasn't ready for a bike. He had some growing up to do first. |
