| wrecked the 954 :( Well I managed to go down last Sunday. Went on a nice little ride with a friend. I was riding along noticed this pickup truck with a trailer ahead of me. He started to turn left (so I thought), there was a little shoulder so I go to go around him then he whips it right. Having the trailer he was taking it wide I suppose. So bascially I go down, bike slides under the trailer and I fly off, hit the front of the truck slide a little then end up in the grass. A little rash on my left leg, foot is bruised pretty bad. Right elbow and shoulder sore. Had my helmet, jacket and gloves on. Im impressed with the Held Galaxy gloves. Teknic jacket worked well. My new X-11 is scratched on the side. I just bought the Shoei recently so I am going to keep wearing it, it didnt hit that hard and looking at the damage, I dont think its that bad. Unfortunately I didnt have my Sidi Vertebra's on. I had some old Sidi leather riding boots that offer basically no protection. But I threw in some pics of the bike and gear.
I dont have full coverage. According to the police report the truck/trailer didnt have functioning brake lights. He didnt have his turn signal on but according to the report the turn signal functioned. He crossed the middle as well with no indication of what he was doing. So whos at fault here would you say? I take some blame. I shouldve just waited on the old ass truck to finishin turning.
The bike looks totalled. I havent taken anything off or started my 'rebuild' cause Im waiting to hear from the insurance company. We both have Progressive btw. The frame and subframe look straight. The right fork is cracked. Bodywork is screwed. Look at the pics. |

| Re: wrecked the 954 :( Sorry to hear that. That is the exact bike i want to get, right down to the color combination. I think once i get the R1 project i am working on rebuilding done and sold, i may sell the 929 and try to get one. If you change your mind and decide to sell it let me know. |

| Re: wrecked the 954 :( oh man sorry to hear. glad you weren't seriously hurt though.
I can't stress this enough though, DO NOT WEAR THAT HELMET AGAIN. its hit the ground it has taken its ONE impact. sure the foam liner around the rest of the helmet might be ok but that part where your head and the pavement crushed it won't protect you a second time. Its not worth your life to try to save a few bucks on a new helmet. cut the strap on it so you won't even be tempted to use it again.

Rebuild? Looking at those pics I'd say thats quite optimistic. Because you were passing on the shoulder I don't see any insurance money coming your way. However if you do luck out I'm sure they will total the bike out. |

| Re: wrecked the 954 :( So should he wear the helmet...? Just kidding, actually. I had a similar crash where a person was apparently turning right into a driveway, w/o signalling, then just as I drew even with him I saw his hands on the wheel doing a mad dash towards a u-turn (across a double yellow.) It was awesome!!! Patience is a virtue yada yada, but seriously it's better to wait. |

| Re: wrecked the 954 :( A: never say you went on the shoulder
B: never claim ANY responsibility
C: ONLY point out what the driver did that was improper
He will make it all look like YOUR fault, if you accept any responsibility they will put it on you. Trust me I have been there. |
