| Re: I suppose I am an official biker now Lucked out eh? I have a similar story. I was in my hometown of Prescott AZ, heading down to the square to a waffle house to meet a girl for breakfast. There is a large hill leading down to the square with many tourist stores lining the sidewalks. As I made my way down, a blue haired old woman in a Delta 88 blows the stop sign from the side road and made the turn right in from of me. At this point, I had the same options as you: Get a good look at the trunk and rear window, or go around and try to save it. So i change lanes quickly to avoid the collision, and she changed with me! There was no escape now. I locked up the rear brake and laid her on down at about 20mph. I was wearing my jacket, gloves and helmet so no major damage to my body (except I lost some skin on my knee but I wasn't using that skin anyway). But the worst part was that the declined grade made the bike slide much farther than on a level surface. I lost upper, lower, and tail fairings on the right side of my F2. And a mirror. She was completely oblivious, didn't stop, didn't even touch the brakes. Luckily I found my exact same fairings on the beloved eBay, full set, for 250 picatures of George Washington. And I still made it to the waffle house on time. That girl is my girlfriend now. She has a CBR 600RR. Happy day. |
