| worst in a long time!!! a deeper look at life I heard of a wreck on a main street near me and i just though it was no big deal,
then they added details like motorcycle.....140mph...... fire......and flipped suv
so i had to do some looking up.
ends up he was a friend of some riders i know so it jsut makes it that much more personal.
we are not sure exactly whos fault it was, id say both, but one was speeding and the other should have looked before making a u-turn
either way it is bad,
both drivers were killed, no one knows if it was the fire that killed them or the crash but both bodies were pretty much insinerated.
it makes us think a little, and hopefully we can hold ourselves back when it comes to this type of behavior
so u know, he was no squid and he was no idiot, he was very timid from what i am told, and this was the first time in a while he actually got on it.
but prayers with the families
i posted this for discussion on a deeper note of how much life matters and to show how quickly we can lose so much. |

| Re: worst in a long time!!! a deeper look at life IMHO there is a time and a place to ride to your bikes limits and in the city streets is not the place, do it in a place where the only persons life you can jepordize is yours, preferably a track or out in BFE. |

| Re: worst in a long time!!! a deeper look at life yea i agree, it was primarily his fault, but u can still see something like that coming... and no im not saying he was right at all....
we have a bridge here called the gandy.... its around 2-3 miles long.... at least it feels like it... that would have even been a better idea
but its a huge loss on both sides, he should have been a bit more selective on where he decides to open her up.
but i ddnt post it to critisize him or for myself to get critisized more to show how fragile life really is. |

| Re: worst in a long time!!! a deeper look at life oh some random facts
he was on a zx-10
the news said a 900 lb bike flipped a 4000 lb. suv... i know the kawi is way less like 500 lb. max but i dont know bout the burben
3 civilians tried to extinguish the fire with extingushiers in their cars, none were succesful
the motorcycleist was pinned under the suv (dont know how he got there) when the fires errupted
the driver was unconceous accoring to one of the civilians with the extingushers
i hope that the both died upon impact so they ddnt have to suffer burning to death.
they say he was doing over 140,
but no gurantees, he was deff doin over 100
but i think it takes a lot to flip a big suv like that.
one other thing , one bystandard said they saw his backtire go very high up in the air before impact |

When we are on our bikes, we need to take the responsibility for every driver out there to preserve our own lives. You need to anticipate every move and plan for the worst. We as riders are very vulerable on the road. Almost makes me want to turn to a track only person. The best advice I got from a friend of mine was, "Ride like you are invisible, because it is hard for others to judge the distance of a bike, and ride like everyone is out to kill you." We ride some of the most powerful machines on the road, let's be responsible with that power. Keep the speeds down and save it for the track. |

God rest his soul, but he's an idiot for doing those speeds on the street. More bad press for sportbikers... Daytona Bike Week attendees beware.
It does not take that much to flip over an SUV, especially one that is turning/accelerating. (making a u-turn)

Begin Rant Mode:
And yet over the last year over and over people come on here and try to argue that speeding, "only affects me, why do you care?" Why is this board "nazi" against stunting, speeding, etc? This is why. More people killed, one more bike totalled, increased insurance costs, laws banning motorcycles.
Rant Over.
Cheesy movie quote coming: With great power comes great responsibility. |

Does that mean he may have been going more than 140. " Gone ballistic "! |

| Re: worst in a long time!!! a deeper look at life MAn what a horrible crash. It's sad that someone else died because of a irresponsible rider going way over the speed limit. True the suv may have pulled but at 140 you cover a lot of ground very very fast. And he may never had been any where close. God bless their souls. And the suburban aeighs just shy of 6000 lbs, not 4 like the news said. I'm guessing that was the bikes gas igniting the fire. |

We all know to look out for cars. that being said... he is completely in the wrong... I agree with what most people have said that theirs a time and a place and that setting was neither... it only takes one mistake! |

At 140, how far do you travel in ONE second???
Chances are, the driver of the car never saw the bike because of stupid fast speed. Even if they did, the bike could've been a half mile away when the car started the U-turn. Friggin 140! When/If I do that on a public street, I KNOW I WILL DIE IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG! And chances are, I will take someone with me. STUPID STUPID STUPID! |

| Re: worst in a long time!!! a deeper look at life OK this person may have been acting a fool, indeed he was. But he is dead now, im sure if he was here now we would love to turn back time...
He learnt his lesson in a very sad way, but its now down us to learn from his mistake and move on. Ive been in a car when ive been travelling at 70MPH in the middle lane, gone to indicate to move into the fast lane and within a few split-seconds i have a bike on my tail, just makes me check and check again for bikes.
Pre Warning: This thread will turn into a 10 page crazy thread soon where people will be critising him and saying what he should and shouldnt have done...
I hope everyone here goes away knowing more than they did, do not act stupid when there are others around...

| Re: worst in a long time!!! a deeper look at life when i said i dont pull out in front of bikes it was a general statement,
this was an accident waiting to happen i agree,
and i thank Twin for being real and down to earth
its not about saying what he did wrong its just a real world realization
and i think 140 is about 1 football field a second, so unles the road was clear he couldnt have seen him coming,
19 is a 4lane each side (so 8 lane rd.)
so i dont really know what traffic is like at 11:00 am |

| Re: worst in a long time!!! a deeper look at life I know this might sound heartless, but im glad there wasnt a full young family in that car. I would have been even more happier if the SUV wasnt on that road full stop or if the biker wasnt speeding, but these are all "what ifs" - cant change whats happened.
But things happen, some good, some bad, we cant control everyone or everything...

Twin | Dude! He did not learn ANYTHING. He is gone.
The only chance we have is to get down right nasty about his actions. Then maybe someone will think twice. You know, a whole lot of peer pressure with just a little, "That dumb Bastard died and killed someone else in the process! And he ain't coming back." thrown in for good measure. |
