yea it seem that most of the new riders now adays are more drawn to the cool factor of the bikes, i gues the see it as getting a sportbike puts them in the cool circle, you see it with every trend one starts wearing a hoodie sweatshirt then they all start wearing the same thing, they see it on mtv and they are doing it the next day.
when i started riding it was because i rode a streetbike and couldent think about anything else after that, and to this day i cant think of anything else, i find myself thinking about that next sunday ride all trough the week.

Slickwell i totally agree with you 200 percent, if you cant afford the gear dont bye a bike if i could have it my way i would make it law to bye your gear in the same shop where you want to buy your bike (no gear no bike).BALDGONZO is also so right will anybody get on a cruiser if you know there is no life boats neither life jackets i dont think so.The people that survived the titanic will not do it again why should we.Learn out of other peoples mistakes and i think we saw enough.

Re: No Gear

Owning & Riding a motorcycle in itself is a privilege, but many of these people take it for granted.

All I know is that I have two options, gear or no gear... ill stick with gear thanks

Is it possible that many ride w/o gear just to prove how invincible they are? riding a superbike after all in trunks and a t-shirt.

Re: No Gear

Most stunters of which Brian Streeter is representitve of do the majority of their work at slow speed, other than abrasions gear doesn't prevent breaks from stuff falling on you. I personally disagree with stunting as a riding form it is a poor representation of what riding is about IMHO.

I've said it before and I will say it again if we were intended to ride them on one wheel they would be motorized unicycles and not motorized bicycles.

All other things considered scars are cool chicks dig em so why would you want to prevent abrasions?

He has a helmet on which at least means he wants to live through his mishaps, many stunters don't bother. Chlorine for the gene pool I say.

They wouldn't look so pretty if half their face had been ripped off by the road...

Re: No Gear

Here are a few more reason for wearing gear, low slided the new bike at about 65. MPH after hitting some loose gravel..Get a check from the insurance company Friday for $7800.00.

Full leathers JR Speedmaster. Held Akira Gloves, Sidi Boots..Shoei Helmet.

Nothing broken, sore ribs both middle fingers tweaked a bit.

Where I landed..

Nope that pic was taken a week after...I went down right at the apex when the front hit the gravel and tucked on me if you look at the car bumper in the pic I slid about 2 feet behind from where the car was at.

The first pic you can see where the bike and me landed.

thats the most sensible thing to do and most dealers are happy to cut a deal on the gear if your buying a bike at the same time.

i absolutely love my heine gericke one piece i got from sportbiketrackgear.com. sure yellow is ugly, but $450 for a top quality COMFORTABLE AND COOL suit is a deal. price dropped since then.
i had my first crash labor day and my heine gericke jacket hardly looks damaged. high quality stuff. [have another jacket for 20 years.] a little polishing and it should be like new, unlike my shoulder blade, collar bone and ribs...
