But it has slowed me down on the street I am actually getting over 2500 miles to a back tire now |
The closest track to me is 4 hours away, the next is 6 and my favorite is 12 with a ferry ride across Lake Michigan. I'm not ragging on you, and from your response I know you did not take it that way. However, I used to ride with a group that would do +10 to double the posted and had a lot of mishaps due to road debris, unfamiliarity of the road and wildlife. (I hate deer)
Someone like yourself very experienced can do over posted on roads that are familiar. However, group rides tend to put pressure *unintended* on the least experienced rider to keep up. That leads to disaster, I've seen it.
The real point of my post was the fact that a road track has controlled conditions without sand, gravel, side streets, opposing traffic, pedestrians, bicycle riders, volley balls or deer. There is no speed limit and medical help is readily available if needed.
I know that riding under the posted speed limit can result in a wipe out and injury as well. I just wanted readers to know that street conditions are not predictable so it may be prudent to wick it down a notch. |

I knew what you were saying we always have the track versus street debate on our local forums.
Had a friend of a friend killed at Blackhawk a few years ago. Another on the track where a controlled rider broke his femur because he hit a deer at the track. Seen video's of numerous trackdays with everything from cats to rabbits and squirrels running across the track.
Bottom line dangerous hobby we all have and accidents can happen anytime and at any speed.
Why I always dress for the crash and not the ride
Would love to be able to do more track days but running a business out of my home and a 4 year old son and a wife with a demanding career I am lucky to get out on a Sunday and ride let alone travel the whole weekend.
Ride safe |

| Re: Low Slide June 1st..Crash Pics and After pics Nope they were just scratches on the frame and I just touched it up with some paint.
If you ride the bikes they will never stay perfect, have numerous chips on all the plastic. What happens when you ride so the imperfections don't bother me hard to keep them looking perfect. |

| Re: Low Slide June 1st..Crash Pics and After pics Red Rider 67 you are 7 hours away from Grattan raceway according to my GPS program. They have many 2 in a row track days where you could camp overnight. It would be worth the trip for you to experience it! The next track day is Oct 18-19th (Sat, and Sunday) if you'd be interested. I know its kinda far, but many people travel farther that that to go. Just a thought... |

I have my own business, wife has a demanding career and we also have a 4 year old son.
Hopefully next year I will have some more free time, good thing is now I have slowed my ass down on the street big time. Now I get 2000 miles out of a back tire instead of 1200 |

I consider myself very lucky after my crash and just don't have it in me anymore to rail on the back roads anymore lost my balls Went to my crash site a few weekends ago and still could not find them At least my wife don't worry as much when I go out and ride. |
