| The blade is out of commision. Well I went down Monday night. It was raining earlier in the day so there was a little water in the drainage ditches. I was making a left turn on to the street and notice a car making a U-turn about 25 yards up. I started to slow as I hit the drainage ditch and the front tire tucked a couple inches then the rear tucked and grabbed. Which threw me off highside and made me do a perfect 10 belly flop on the nice soft asphalt. The wierd thing is the bike came back down on the left side like a lowside? Me and the bike ended up sliding about 25 feet with the bike hitting the curb and coming to a stop. I was only going about 15-20mph, but the damage is pretty bad because of the curb action. It ended up denting the tank, bending the sub-frame and left handle bar, crushed turn signal/headlight controls and turn signal, upper fairing toasted, left case scratched and the rear cowl is a goner too. I have a little rash on my left hip belly area, bruised knee, bruised ankle and a hole in my brand new A-Star Jacket. I had all my gear on except for my jeans thus the reason for the rash on the hip. I think my pride was hurt more then anything. And yes the first thing I did was bounce up and run to my bike to see how bad it was(A true biker, Who cares about me how's the bike). The big bummer is all the damage is going to come out of my pocket because I didn't have collision on my insurance. I think I'll replace the damaged parts and just paint the bike a gunmetal flake or something. I think it would look cool the same color as my rims are. All in all I'm glad I'm ok and the bike is a least repairable.

| Re: The blade is out of commision. Well the blade is back in commision. Not pretty ,but mechanically and structurally everything has been repaired. I had to swap my mirror from the rightside to the left so it is upsidedown (damn backyard mechanics), but it's legal. There is still a big dent in the tank and some rash on the upper and mid fairing along with the stator cover. But hey who cares she rides fine and is still a blast to jump on and scoot down the street. Just wanted to give an update to all the fireblade folks out there. |
