| It hurts..... went for a nice ride today, which went well until the way back.
whilst slowing down for the left hand bend into penderyn coming south i was approaching the 40 mph signs at 60, and slowed down accordingly when whilst lightly feathering the rear break the back wheel locked solid for no reason
I spent important time trying to figure out what was happening but couldn't get it to unlock with a pumping on/off foot motion, i tried to turn in to the left hander and break with the front which caused me to slow and fishtail, which sent me straight on whist doing around 10-15 i went straight into the side of an oncoming car doing around 40, smashing into my foot, knee and hip, ripping the plastics to bits on the right hand of the bike
i was launched over the top of the car and the bike spun and dropped to the floor damaging the rad and lightly scraping the engine cover.
the mondao i hit had the two drivers doors damaged and couldn't lock/shut the front door and had an old winging man driving, who was unsuprizingly un harmed who imeadiatly accused me of speeding, to which i relpyed that if i had been speeding i would most likely be dead, but it was lucky he didn't slow down cos i would have been through the window of his motor http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...9/Image105.jpg
i know that the bike locked up and stalled, the clutch didn't realise the wheel?
i will ask the insurers to look into it.
i've looked at the rear break, chain and every other item i can think of, it is now moving freely and the bike starts and can move also there are no signs of excessive wear.
I'm am unwilling to admit rider error cos it would be next to impossible to imagine that i could cock up that badly at low speed and not notice, in addition to this at that speed rider error should have been easily spotted and corrected?
the alpine supertech boots i've had for 6 years really worked, but all of the toe protection sliders have been destroyed
the heavy weight winter gloves and rst leathers look almost untouched, and the lid didn't hit the car or the floor |

| Re: It hurts..... Ouch! Hope you OK bud... Had engine lock up, when i picked up a bike for a mate... Luckily I didn't crash.. as it locked up just as I came to a stop.. anyway It turned out mechanic had dropped a washer/bolt in the gearbox which eventualy jammed in the cogs.. was all covered by waranty but they were very reluctant to admit what caused it!

| Re: It hurts..... Must've been raining. Why else use the rear brake?
Me thinks you clamped down on the bars while you arse was in pucker mode and never applied any clutch lever. Taking a 40 at 60 is pretty standard, but you said you still slowed for the 40. The whole accident sounds weird at best. |

| Re: It hurts..... are you sure it was the engine that locked up? Seems strange it was OK till you hit the brakes and wouldnt unlock with the clutch pulled. How about the rear brake, it is working ok now but if it was dragging or something it may have only locked up when it was hot. |

| Re: It hurts..... Even if you turned the engine off but was still rolling, the engine should be able to turn over (the transmission would be turning the motor)
Not sure why or what caused it, all I hope is that you get better and back to riding

The whole accident sounds weird at best. | it was raining earlier in the morning and the roads were damp, i usually feather the rear when gradually braking .
the corner can be taken at upto 90 in relative safety but due to it entering a village i try to keep to the limits.
i have thought about all of the things i could have done wrong to cause this and none of them sound likely at this speed, i had time to try releasing the rear and was still thinking i could change the outcome up until i hit the car.
at the moment i can't lift my right arm, the doc has said it could be the rotary cuff but cant tell until the swellings gone down. but as soon as i'm fit i'll be back out and about on my chopper that is until i get the blade back |

| Re: It hurts..... Mate,
What a git, but eh your here tapping away and talking to other bikers could have been a whole different story. Nice to hear your a biker who keeps it sweet through the villages, too many of us keep it twisted far too much in the wrong places.
Hope the insurance company don't take too long to put it right.
Keep it shiney
