| Hit and run So on my way to work on thursday a camaro pulls out in front of me, I t-bone his driver door and he takes off. I had on my gear, I am pretty frustrated with it all. The impact was at ~20mph. The front assembly is in pieces and the forks flexed far enough the tire hit the header. Does anybody know a good site for oem parts i can browse. I am getting an estimate this week from my insurance company. I am hoping to get it put back together without the bike getting "totaled". What other considerations should I take into account here? The bike has 30k and has been a champ thus far, would the impact compromise any other internal parts of the motor or tranny? Should I let it go and get a new 1000RR? Okay the last sentence was a little hopefull. Any help or advice is apprecited. Ride safe and wear gear! |

If there were any gas stations around that area you might be able to get his plate number if you're lucky

| Re: Hit and run Well, I've only been there once...the problem may be that many places have CCTV, not they are not aimed at the road...also check to see if there were any traffic cameras in the area that accident happened...where the camaro came from or in the direction the camaro went

| Re: Hit and run Ehhh chances of finding the guy in a big city is unlikely... i myself was involved in a hit and run about half a year ago... same situation... douche ran stop sign i tbone he leaves... i got his plate # from someone down the block spotting the whole thing and i still got nothing form him because he was uninsured and just changed his adress about a weeek before the accident so no one can track him down for to take him to court...... thats life man people r assholes... just be glad you werent hurt and that you live to ride another day.... as for the bike i would invest in a new one unless you did the job yourself because you dont even know if the frame was bent etc.... bikes that get in bad wrecks are never the same..... the ones that are require massive amounts of work...... but ultimately its up to u |

| Re: Hit and run Sorry to hear that, Hooked. Hope you're recovering well and parts are available for you to rebuild your bike.
I witnessed a hit & run at the end of May just as I was heading out to the 1st .Org UK Meet. Bike went into crossroads t-boned an older Merc.
The Merc drove off, then came back. I can't help but wonder if there's a replacement driver in there.
Left my details with the cops, as well as the Merc's number plate details... nothing more I could do. There were other witnesses as well.

| Re: Hit and run Thanks for all the info everyone. The cops did check the CCTV's in the area and nothing. If a blue camaro shows up then our paths were meant to cross again. I have come to the realization that the bike might have to leave the family . Last thing I want is to have a money pit of a bike that I wish I cashed in on. Would rather have the happy memories than be frustrated all the time with it. Thanks again all, I am quite sore but here and healthy. I have always tossed the idea of a new 1000rr and now it has a little more leverge with the possibility of no bike in the garage to compete with. |

| Re: Hit and run Some closure to the deal. Bike is now in a salvage yard for someone to pull parts off of and what not. GEICO cut me a check, so now I am saving up to pay cash for a 08 or newer 1000RR. Take care all and wear your gear. |
