| Re: R1 go boom within 10 miles A friend of mine just picked up a crashed 04 that had <600 miles on it. It hurt to look at it. The guy and wife got their PERMIT when they bought the R1. The wife was in critical condition for a while. When will people learn? |

| Re: R1 go boom within 10 miles read some of it, was too lazy to sign up to see the pics but all I know is it gets real annoying reading all the wheelie this, stoppie that crap after a while, how could anyone believe what they claim to have done (not done) when they admit to other things that aren't the best for their bikes? Hmm, oh well, that's why I buy honda! |

| Re: R1 go boom within 10 miles So Yamaha will now have a rep at every dealership take the bike through it's entire break-in period before it can be sold?
Yeah right.......
Where can I get THAT job? |

Everyone knows that Yamaha makes the best stuff on the planet and could never have failure issues like that. |

I know I'd have the super guilt trip if I sold a bike to someone and then find out the next day that the bike and rider are in the "scrap yard"
Either way, as soon as the '04 bikes are released here, I give it around 3 months before I open up the paper in the sales area and as see... '04R1 1200km or ZX10 or CBR1000RR etc.
Some people have no common sense at all. |

I would definitely try to talk him out of it. But it is there choice and if that dealer didn't sell it to him the next would. He mentioned getting another bike and we tried to steer him down to at least a 600 even though we don't know him, but we didn't get very far. Typical squid. Said he wanted one of the top 4 bikes out there and bought the R1 because he liked the pointy tail light. Payed like 13500 otd. All this while his buddies Can atuna sits there glowing from the purple neon on each side and the flashing strobe light going off every 4-5 seconds. |

| Re: R1 go boom within 10 miles Jeez...what's funny is they're blaming it on being a "race engine". Most race engines, that aren't factory types, are broken in WOT. |

| Re: R1 go boom within 10 miles If I got a Yammie, there would only be 1 Yamaha employee allowed to do break-in. And that's Rossi, everyone else can kiss my Put your 1 mile ride on it, then gimme the keys and get off my bike |

| Re: R1 go boom within 10 miles Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I seem to recall that some certain member (I wonder who) during all the Yamahype and BS - when the BS masters at Yamahype released the 180 number, said that the only way the engine would get close to that number is if it was on the verge of destroying itself.
No, couldn't be true. to Yamahype and the magic bike. |

There is no way I would buy a bike that had been broken in by someone else - defeats the point of buying a new bike.
Oh yeah, I got mine with 0.1km on the clock. they puched it (literally) to the service station located next door, and pushed it back. Gotta love that...

Z... | Yeah, I got mine with 0.0 on it, it was even still in the crate! I got to go thru and check everything myself and knew it was good to go. The only downside was I had noone to blame but myself if I had any problems (which I haven't yet, knock on wood)!! |
