| Got me a Yamaha...Chain should be proud **UPDATE** Well.....I just got her today. She is going to be our first restoration project(not full resoration). She runs great just needs some elbow grease. She's an 1980 XS850 Special with 15K. I'm sure this is bringing back memories for you old fogies..
I'll be posting pics after we're all done with her. Wish us luck!

| Re: Got me a Yamaha...Chain should be proud Hey, who you callin' an old fogey?? I learned on a similar bike...an XS650 Heritage Special. Top heavy, bad brakes, but I had fun on it! I had crash bars on it but I kept dragging them, so I took 'em off! |

Okay, I'll quit complaining - it's a Yamahammer after all. |

| Re: Got me a Yamaha...Chain should be proud Good job? Forget that, goooood luck is mroe like it. You had the initiative to buy it atleast, hopefully it'll come out beautifully restored. If you really want it looking nice, you'll have to take the Yamahahaha symbol and name off |

| Re: Got me a Yamaha...Chain should be proud I am already feeling fond of her. She's got personality. She's been sitting around for the past few years and originally came from South Carolina.
Ghost we picked her up for $350 and we plan on reselling her after the restoration/clean up.
We're gonna be some polishing MoFo's! |

| Re: Got me a Yamaha...Chain should be proud **UPDATE** Alrighty.....here is an update as promised. We are just waiting for a new clutch cable and she's all set for Ebay! We ended up rewiring her and installing a new fuse box. Reworked the carbs (runs smooooooth now). The rest was polishing, polishing and more polishing. What I took away from this bike..... I HATE ALUMINUM!!!
We are very proud of her and worked our butts off! Enjoy. Be sure to do some comparisons with the original photos. I almost can't believe its the same bike. |
