| Re: More '04 R1 issues. Lies...............all damned lies. The R1 is the most perfectest motorcycle on the planet.
And and and Yamaha has the bestest engineers, too. There's no way the Magic Bike can have probllems. Oh, and Yamaha never fudges their factory horsepower and weight numbers, either. This magic bike really really really puts out 180 rear wheel horsepower and none of them have gone boom.
Stop spreading lies about God's (or evolutions ) motorcycle gift to humankind.
Oh yeah, the Raptor and YFZ450 quads haven't had any quality issues, either.
It's all part of the vast um........, uh, Honda wing conspiracy. Yeah, that's it.

Z... | I've only heard of one problem so far with the Kwak. A guy on the ZX-10R.net forum had a problem with clutch slippage. Swears he broke-in per Big K's recommendations. However, it smoked as he was drag-racing an R1. Sounds like it may have been delivered by the dealership with an improperly adjusted clutch, slipping mildly during the break-in, and finally gave up the ghost during the drag-race.
No other probs that I've heard, tho. |

| Re: More '04 R1 issues. The Kwaka had gear problems when they tested it befroe release, but they had said they will fix it before release. Don't know if that is/was the prob with the bike you mentioned, but sounds related.
Only thing I've heard with 1000RR's is the sub frame is weak. Same on 600RR, but that's for crashes or stunt riding etc. I haven't had any crack etc. |

Kwak made some changes to the star and spring and haven't had any problems since. My ZX is easily the smoothest shifting bike I've ever owned, and way less clunky than the 954.

So you guys with the new bikes go easy on the bumpy roads ok? |

| Re: More '04 R1 issues. Oh fer crissakes! I think one can find anecdotal failures in just about any mechanical thing on the planet, you guys. But this is silly.
I'd wager you could walk into a dealership and plunk down for any current sportbike from Japan and have about 95% chance of riding the wheels off the darn thing with nary a problem. Ever.
They're all pretty reliable overall. |

No other probs that I've heard, tho. | Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the ZX-10 have a slipper clutch anyways??????? As far as the R1 goes, my friend says that Yamaha gave him a specific break-in process aside from them one that the manual says. It's on Yamaha letterhead and is very specific on how to break it in right. So far he's up to 500 miles without a problem.

Dano | Is that the one where the Yamaha tech breaks it in for him? |

They're all pretty reliable overall. | I was just thinking the samething as well, chain....probably 90-98% of all the Jap bikes are damn near bulletproof....you are gonna have the occasional dud or lemon roll off the assembly line...it just happens... |

Ex. speedo reads 40, and you are actually going 60MPH. The first guy to have the issue was told to bring the bike in, which he did, and the dealer overnighted the speedo to Japan.
Engine ping, a few people have this as well. Much better than cylinders missing altogether and engines blowing up
Either way, new bikes will have glitches, my 929 did as well. No worries on the Honda though |
