| Holy eff! Look what Warchild's done to his FJR! I never see the guy here on the board anymore, but I stumbled across this link and can only say, this looks like one serious, high speed, long distance super-tourer! http://p083.ezboard.com/ffjr1300owne...D= 2262.topic Edit: a serious question, in no way to disparage what WC's done to his bike: Wouldn't a factory showroom stock Goldwing do everything that FJR will do and perhaps even do it better (other than, say, a drag race)?

| Re: Holy eff! Look what Warchild's done to his FJR! No man, believe me, I'm not interested in doing that sort of mileage on this or any other bike. I did -for awhile anyway- think that doing a SaddleSore 1000 would be a neat feather in my cap, but I gotta tell you, the more I looked into it the more I felt like I wasn't cut out for that sort of pain.
Just thought it was a cool FJR, that's all.
I thought Conq was going that route with his XX, but with him selling his TMs and stuff, well, I dunno anymore. Conq, didn't you sell your Givi's off that bike too? |

Does your wife/g-friend plan on riding with you too? Does riding one of these beasties a waste if you're solo? |

Since I've never ridden an FJR, I can't answer this question. However, I can guesstimate that when a Goldwing sees and FJR, the 'wing is singing "Can't touch dis" |

It's easier to handle at low speeds, it probably has a higher top end (AFAIK Warchild regularly sees triple digits), and is more flickable, helpful when avoiding traffic, deer, debris, tar snakes, etc.
Warchild has several bikes, his old combat tourer being the XX, of course.
In short, the FJR is a sporttourer, whereas the GW is a (world class) tourer. I'd have a GW if I had the time to exploit its very-long-distance capabilities. |

| Re: Holy eff! Look what Warchild's done to his FJR! And isn't the FJR a couple of hundred pounds lighter?
Even WITH all that extra gear I wouldn't think the FJR has approached GW like weight.
Besides, I'd still rather have the "sport" tourer. |

| Re: Holy eff! Look what Warchild's done to his FJR! I know a buch of people into that IronAss riding stuff. I can apperciate the adventure of a serious LD trip but that would be taking in the sights and hitting the curves. Those IronAss dudes are generally consumed with putting as many miles on as fast ass possible in rapid success ( 50CC and 100CC or whever those are called.. and to course the infant of the mall, the SS1000). In almost every case I too find that a trip to the airport with a small bag and and a few beers in the belly is equally (if not more enjoyable) way to get a couple thousand miles from home.
