Today my brother picked up his 05 Yamaha R6 from a dealer near my school. He asked me to assist in the break-in. (would you say no?) Anywho, he really wants to get it done so he can get on it, so that meant a lot of riding today.
Unfortunately, most of it was riding the gears from 3-6k rpm, but I did get a good look at it. It was a blast! Moving up from an SV650 to a 954, I skipped the middleground, so it was interesting to get my first real test. I really enjoyed riding it; it begs to be opened up and handles extremely well. I kinda cheated and headed to 10k in third a couple of times, and it really screams.
I was overly cautious though in turns because I don't really have the money to repair it if I screw up. I headed a little towards the chicken strips and it easily and smoothly bounces from side to side, accepting graciously whatever I did ask it to do. Lots and lots of fun! Nice ergos too.
However, coming home, I got back on the 954 and put another 60 miles on it. I wouldn't trade! I love my damn bike and it only gets better the more I ride it. Just crossed over 6,000 miles today
All in all, my legs are sore as hell, but I had a blast!
