The YZFR6 is a fly by wire throttle with a slipper clutch
The R1LE is 18K but wow look at the trick goodies
both headlights work on both models |

| Re: 2006 Yamaha Prices released... For sure the R6 cost more to develop and costs more to manufacture than an R1. Technically it should be more expensive, but the marketers will insist that a 1000 is "better" and therefore more money. |

| Re: 2006 Yamaha Prices released... Too high for my means. Glad my blade is paid for. No need for a literbike anymore. Now talk to me about an enduro. It will be my next purchase in the NEAR future. |

| Re: 2006 Yamaha Prices released... With that price on the R1LE, Yamaha shouldn't have to worry about people complaining about not enough of them.
Serious, add up a shock, forks, wheels and slipper clutch and you won't hit that premium over base. |

Serious, add up a shock, forks, wheels and slipper clutch and you won't hit that premium over base. | Same is true on the goodies Duc adds to thiers vs an RC. The reality is that it is ready and done plus I imagine a certain amount of status bling
Also consider what is the labor to install the clutch for someone not able to do it themselves |

| Re: 2006 Yamaha Prices released... In the real world we will see differences of over $7000, once the dealer markup is applied.
You can add all the R1LE goodies, an exhaust and a fuel management system (PC3, EMS, etc.) and still have leftovers to apply toward bodywork.
A blind sheep can put in a slipper clutch, and any racer certainly would be able to with all the other maintenance they do.
True the Duc markup is huge, but the 999 and 999R are completely different bikes. The 999R actually has a 999cc engine woth major differences compared to the 999's 998cc engine, then there are all the other changes.
For what Yamaha is asking they'd have to throw a different tune on the engine or pony up something else to truly make it a positive ROI.
At that price, I find it highly unlikely many racers will front their own money for one over applying those goodies to a standard R1.
I'm sure they'll still sell to those looking for a collector's item, just not many clubbers.
The best of both worlds would have a bike maker bring in the homologation specials for a few grand above the standard model, then sell a stripped model along side it for ~$2000 less than the standard.
That would flood the club racing scene with their bike, sell to collectors and own the squid market all at once. |

| Re: 2006 Yamaha Prices released... Yes, it will be interesting to see how may of the new R6's sell at those prices. The R1LE will definitely be an "elite purchase" for those with the money. I wonder what spring they will put on those Ohlin's shocks and forks. Will they need to upgraded for us well fed folk? And if so then the price increase would be ridiculus. |

and on the prices - jesus, that is some serious loot for a 600. I paid 7400 out the door with tax on my 04 R6, cant imagine laying another 2g's on top for a 600...oh well, I'm sure someday I will! |
