| Re: Bad R1 Accident I can't help wondering what the cause of that accident was. That has to be one of the worst things I've seen in terms of metal and carnage being strewn across the road. To be honest I couldn't tell that it was an R-1. I'm sure speed was part of the factor here due to the damage seen to the car as well as the bike.
I'm not sure how old this vid is, but I feel for the family that had to experience a loss. |

| Re: Bad R1 Accident I dont know if any video like this can ever be considered good...but to sum it up for the others that choose not to watch: It basically shows an accident scene almost immediately after the accident occurs. A bike and a car collide...the front tire is lodged in the car...the rest of the bike is all over...the rider in full leathers lies motionless while various people try are trying to offer help ( I guess). |

Edit, If it was my friend on the ground I can assure you that the guy with the camera would be on the ground too in a barely better shape.. |

| Re: Bad R1 Accident that is insanity. i woulda knocked that camera dood out if he was filming one of my dead friends like that.
did you notice how everyone at the scene was ridiculously calm?
all the women there you'd think someone was crying or screaming.
nope nothing strange here just 2 dead people on the side of the road.
on a sidenote, i'm moving to that country to become a career criminal. |

| Re: Bad R1 Accident Well, to play devil's advocate it's quite possible that no one knew what to do. I do know that moving the victims is not in their best interest unless there is a risk of explosion or more danger where they are currently at. To me it was just a pretty sobering video, and fairly indicative of what the aftermath of a crash looks like. You want response times, move out to where I used to live in Tx, where a call about a prowler took 30 minutes to get a trooper to show up. You were on your own for at least 20 minutes even if it was a real critical emergency. Let's face it, we can't have EMTs and cops standing at every street corner.
I would also rather have a crowd of people maintaining composure than a couple of people screaming uncontrollably. My guess is that the people in the car trying to wake "Momma" were also holding back the urge to go kill the living folks walking around in leathers. And possibly vice versa.
Like I said, it's a sobering scene. If you are going to hop on a bike, you might want to watch it. Then before you twist the throttle think about it.. |

While it looks from the impact like the rider was speeding it also demonstrates the number one killer of riders...cars turning left in our path (not saying the car was at fault in this case). Please lets all be careful on the road and use discretion when we want to twist the throttle. |

| Re: Bad R1 Accident People down there handle things differently and that is just the way things are.
I don't care how fast the dude on the bike was going, it is apparent the cage pulled out in front of him. No matter if it was 20 or 120, you wouldn't pull in front of a speeding car would ya? In general, cagers have no respect for motorcyclist. Thier brains don't register us as a hazard or threat. So, with that in mind, ride every ride like no one sees you and everyone is out to get you. |

| Re: Bad R1 Accident I am not so sure this guy was speeding, and having serious doubts about 150+. At 55MPH, you are doing 80 feet per second. So at 150, you are in the 200+ feet per second range. This guy and his bike were laying really close. I know that my 30+ MPH get off had me sliding quite a ways down the sidewalk.
I am putting my money on "this guy was travelling the speed limit." |

| Re: Bad R1 Accident I'm not a scientist but there is no way that guy was going the speed limit. I've seen lots of accidents caused by some excessive speed. I haven't seen damage like that caused by a motorcycle ever before. It takes alot of force to do that kind of damage. I've seen a car cross a median and hit a tractor trailer going 65 in the opposite direction with almost the same amount of damage.
As far as the rider, in the beginning of the movie there were people around him. Obviously he wasn't moving or responding. I'm not sure what you want people to do? Yes, they could have stayed with him and certainly kept the damn camera guy away but beyond that, what would you have done? Hell, as an EMT there isn't much I could have done for him. CPR is about all that could be done and in most cases (I think somewhere around 90%) heart failure caused by trauma is not treatable.
People tend to be calm at scenes such as this as long as they don't know the injured person and they did not witness the actual accident.
this incident sure does suck but the fact is bad things happen all the time. It's up to each of us to decide how much risk we're willing to take. |

| Re: Bad R1 Accident To sum it up it looks like the car turned in front of the bike which was probably doing a high rate of speed... The sad part is that they just left the guy laying there by himself. If that happened to me i would hope somebody would stand by me till the emt s showed up. Just my opinion . Sad video seriously. God bless that dude ...... Those type of videos really make me want to cry.... Nobody deserves to lay there like that. I would totally knock that guy out if i saw him taping my friend laying there wtf Does anybody else feel the same?? I know we all take that risk but damn...

| Re: Bad R1 Accident Its a bit hard for me to figure out how this accident played out...the impact tells me that speed was involved...but I cant understand why the rider did not end up a further distance down the road. The only thing that may be an explanation in my opinion is that after the bike hit the car, the rider hit the car instead of going right over it. Also the reason I say that speed may have been involved is because there dont appear to be any visual obstructions to vision...and maybe the rider appeared unexpectedly. I understand that cars on a regular basis turn in front of us and then claim that they dont see us but I am not sure that this is the case here. I dont offer any facts just trying to piece this together in my head from what I see in the video. Maybe you guys saw or noticed something I missed. Either way RIP to the rider and remember to always be careful.
Also Jetdude I feel the same way sometimes after I see an accident...but then I think to myself," if I dont do the things in life that I enjoy then what is the point of living life." |

| Re: Bad R1 Accident my first thought was why in the hell isn't anyone with the motorcycle guy? that was just so sad to me. i would have been with him holding his hand and talking to him even if he was unresponsive. and even if i didn't know him.
sometimes people just suck. | | |
