| Yamaha R6 Redline I know someone posted the letter, but here's a link to the story on motorcycleusa.com http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Articl...ID=2988&Page=1
The "error" is questionable, but the customer service is admirable. I think I'll send a copy of this to my Honda rep tomorrow and tell him I'm considering dumping the RC for an R1.

| Re: Yamaha R6 Redline Agreed.
I just felt like taking another shot at Honda for shafting me.
That, and I am impressed that they're willing to buy them back. I'll bet that not too many get returned.

| Re: Yamaha R6 Redline Am I shocked by this? Not at all. In fact, it makes me wonder what other marketing lies and gimmicks we have been subject to. Then again, it is a Yami - they need to do something to appear superior to the Honda World of Bikes.
It isn't gonna happen boys and gals. |

They still make a good bike. I wouldn't own one, but hey, it's not like I'd kill myself if I did own one.
The 17.5k rpm thing was a marketing ploy, most likely driven by the marketing segment of Yamaha. It's also the reason we always have to have certain things on the bikes we know and love and the real riders think "hey, this sucks, why the feck did they do that?" Things along the lines of 190 section rear tyres, underseat pipes etc.
It's admirable that they've offered the buy back, but whoever bought the bike based on a 17.5k red line is a d*ck anyway. |

Z... | I think that claim was for at the crank, not rear wheel, which it probably has. Isn't there a 20% loss between the crank and rear wheel horsepower? If so, the 929 did put out about 150 at the crank. You know they're gonna give you the highest number they can, and in most cases with most manufacturers, that's the crank number. |

| Re: Yamaha R6 Redline I was thinking more along the lines of Yamaha claiming 150 ponies for the R1, and the 929 was claimed to have 152 ponies, but actual dyno testing showed the 929 usually had about 8 - 10 less bhp than the R1.

| Re: Yamaha R6 Redline Remember that most claims of horsepower are done on an engine dyno...not at the wheel. Drivetrain efficiency has a large effect on the amount of power put to the ground. A %20 loss is a good estimate. |
