I really think I'm going to do it!

No, not shave my head like Hammer, at least not yet!
I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a new Yamaha FJR1300A.
After yesterdays' jaunt, I am convinced I should go the sport/tour and trackbike route.
A dealer in Punta Gorda has a 06 on the floor at a decent price, I think I'm going to go for it!
This is a rational decision, based on logic and input from you and others. It IS NOT an excuse to sell my current bikes and buy something else just cause I have no restraint when it comes to motorcycles!
Really, I'm telling the truth!
I mean, there is NO possible way I could own an example of every motorcycle made from 1965 till now, at one time or another. Right? I think it would be very difficult and improbable. I am sure I couldn't really DO it.
BUT, then again I could give it a h*ll of a try!

Go for it.... if that's the bike you want, do it. Watch out of the wife. I get into LOTS of trouble with my usual "...honey, I couldn't pass up a deal like that"! Followed by ".....I'll get my pillow and go to the couch".

My expensive toy bike is going to be some sort of Ducati. I don't know which one yet. Of course, by the time I get a chance to own one, they will have sprouted wings!

I do love that bike! Riding that thing is a blast, like controlling a locomotive without rails! It's just so big, and heavy. It really does move though, for a cruiser! It's no problem to start grinding hard parts.

The more I have....the more motorcycle parts & accessories I score. So....I guess it's a sacrifice I need to make!

BTW - Christmas is coming Lee - I'll take that full exhaust.

Re: I really think I'm going to do it!

If you have the wife approval... like I got, do not wait on this.... get it ASAP.

FJR was my second choice..... I just could not finally sell myself on a sport tour and that is when I fell in love with the Ulysses.

Hey also... now that you have a track bike, you will be more comfortable about bringing the bike to a track knowing that you not have to make it street worthy after the track day and if you crash it..... ohhh man.

Do get yourself a policy for the track bike for theft and complete loss like I did... well worth the 200 dollars. I did get rid of the standard auto policy on it since it will not be on the street.

Nevermind then! I could just see myself cruising around my little neck of the woods with a Leelover MUTANT-I on my bike.

Now I'm having second thoughts. Maybe I need an adventure tourer.
Buell Ulysses or a Ducati Multistrada,
That new Triumph Tiger looks cool too!
Why doesn't Honda have a cool bike of this type in the states?

My insurance company wouldn't let me buy fire and theft without also taking 3rd party liability. Don't know if that's law here or just their law, but I'm looking for a new insurance company.

Probably because there's not enough of a demand for them. I'd love to have an XRV750 (Africa Twin), but trying to find one here in the US is just about impossible. If you want to see something else cool that Honda sells in other markets, check out the FMX650 or the XL1000V.

Yes, that's a possibility. They are so darn expensive though! I may go ride one, actually I can probably get test rides on the Buell, Ducati, and the Bmw.
Just for the purpose of more research, really!
Depo, have you had a passenger on pillion yet? How is the wind protection?

Depo, have you had a passenger on pillion yet? How is the wind protection?

My wife road with me and she said it was very comfortable and the back rest was reassuring enough to know she would not tumble off the back.

There is wind in your chest with the standard wind screen, but the long wind screen is supposed to be much better. I like wind in my face, but I am a fair weather rider.

Thanks Depo!
I am getting more serious about his bike. Starting to check the HD dealers here and Tampa bay.

Re: I really think I'm going to do it!

I thought of selling my 05FJRA but after my buddy started planning a trip for next year I decided to keep it. Nothing compares to it for the kind of riding we will be doing-----long trip without losing the fun of moderate speed cornering. Anyone up for a trip to Yellowstone to the Pacific Coast Highway to Hoover Dam to the Grand Canyon and back home to Oklahoma City?
