04 R1 Dyno Results

"a guy on the r1-forum message board dyno'd his bike and got 151.25 hp. the numbers will get better because he did the runs with only 17 miles on the bike. dont know how much more hp is typical after a few thousand miles. the hp numbers seem consistent with what i have been reading about so far. "

Not very Impressive at all----what happened to 185HP??????

Re: 04 R1 Dyno Results

If you presume Yamaha's claim of 172 bhp at the crankshaft is legitimate (and why wouldn't you?), and then you allow for around 11-12% loss (a reasonable and typical range) between crankshaft and rear wheel, you'd arrive at power ranging between 151.4 bhp and 153.0 bhp, right in line with the dyno results. No surprises here.

I thought the 04 R1 had 350 F&R WHP (2wd).

Doesn't it come with a couple of angels to protect you too?

QM - Yeah, it speaks the truth about the magic bike. The truth that it produces less horsepower than the CBR1000RR.
Where's the problem here?

The Kawi makes the most horsepower. And send your cookies to Taz so he can have a bake sale to drum up my $20.

Re: 04 R1 Dyno Results

Who carse how much rear wheel power they have. At the end of the day, the CBR1000RR will be THE bike to have through not only power, but useability, handling, rider comfort etc etc etc. 90% of guys can ride a 929 Blade faster around a track than a GSXR1000, and the Gixxer would have about 10-12 more h.p. If the CBR1000RR is ANYTHING like the 600RR, it's gonna blow everything else away. Period.

Re: 04 R1 Dyno Results

FWIW: Some German magazine tested all four 1000's.
Here are some cut & pasted results (copied from R1 and ZX10 forums):

R1: 162.74hp @ 11900rpm - 79.65lb/ft @ 9900rpm
KWAK: 160.77hp @ 12100rpm - 75.96lb/ft @ 10200rpm
CBR: 156.82hp @ 10600rpm - 84.07lb/ft @ 8100rpm
G1K: 155.84hp @ 10600rpm - 84.07lb/ft @ 9100rpm

Another (Spanish) magazine tested all four bikes, as well.
Their dyno results: (measured in CV)
Kawasaki 163 CV
Honda 159 CV
Suzuki 158 CV
Yamaha 165 CV

(Interesting that both the German and Spanish tests, the HP findings put the R1 first, the 10R second, the Honda third, and the Suzuki last. And take note - the Honda & Suzuki have some killer torque numbers!)

Wet weights (as they measured):
Kawasaki 198 Kg
Honda 211Kg
Suzuki 200Kg
Yamaha 203Kg

Track times from Almeria (best laps):
CBR: 1.47.18
ZX10R: 1.45.20
GSXR: 1.47.68
R1: 1.46.41

Interesting, sure - but I wouldn't call these "Gospel", or even entirely accurate. Let's see what some other tests (from some more "familiar" sources) say...

Both of these were on the same dyno, need the R1 for comparison though.

A guy up here that went on our group ride today had one.
