The Toyota Sienna is considered by some as one of the safest minivans to buy, and has been ranking well ever since its introduction as a minivan in the late 1990s. This model has also got praise for its overall ride quality, performance, reliability and standard good looks. The pleasing interiors and other features make this minivan a strong contender for the top slot, year after year. The US News & World Report ranked the previous year’s Toyota Sienna at 2nd position in minivan category. Other reviews like Newcartestdrive.com term the car as ‘maximum convenience’. Does the new 2009 Toyota Sienna have anything fresh to offer in order to really get to the top position?
The 2009 Toyota Sienna 4 door minivan comes in nine different trims: CE FWD (7 and 8 seating trims), LE FWD (7 and 8 seating trims), LE AWD, XLE AWD, XLE FWD, XLE Limited FWD and XLE Limited AWD. All trims are competitively priced, ranging from an MSRP of $24,540 to $37,865. These second- generation Sienna trims come with 3.5 liter V6 engines associated with a five speed automatic transmission (with overdrive). Note that the 2009 Toyota Sienna is currently the only minivan in the market to be offered as All Wheel Drive.
In terms of looks, the minivan Sienna is just nice and clean, without any ostentatious fittings and design. Huge headlights, taillight clusters and an interesting grille come with the 2009 Toyota Sienna. Creature comforts are plenty in this car, but that doesn’t prevent the 2009 Toyota Sienna from switching easily between luxury and mere carrying capacity as required. Of course, one finds better upholstery and finish in the higher trims. Roomy interiors, standard controls, and a quiet cabin spell class. Though quite long and bulky, the Sienna is smooth to handle and easy to park. The car is definitely comfortable for regular commuting as well as the occasional long drive to picnic spots.
The competent V6 engines pump out 266 hp and 245 lb-ft of torque. Passengers are assured of a smooth drive and the driver is assured of smooth handling, owing to the efficient transmission. Fuel economy is quite okay, with city/ highway mpg of 17/23 in the lower trims. The acceleration delights during any drive. Standard safety features including ABS and Electronic stability control assure you of a safe family vehicle. The Limited trims offer a wider range of luxury features, ranging from leather memory seats to rear seat DVD. In all, the 2009 Toyota Sienna definitely rules the minivan segment in most aspects.
