True to form and tradition, the German Auto makers have come up with a top of the line series – CL-Class which offer a perfect blend of engine power coupled with luxury accommodation. Out of the 34 leading automotive reviews and test drives, the Mercedes Benz has been awarded the 3rd position as the world’s largest super luxury sports car by the US News and World Reports.

The Benz claim “technical innovations that no other manufacturer can match”. It has a choice of 4 high- end engines, with adaptive transmissions, improved drivetrain, gears and shaft.

The base range of the CL Class is the CL550 which comes with a 5.5-liter V8 engine, delivering 391 pound-feet of torque. It has a standard 7 speed automatic transmission and overdrive.

The CL 600 is the mid-level range which comes equipped with a 5-speed transmission, 5.5-liter twin turbo V12 engine delivering 510 horsepower and pumps out 612 pound-feet of torque.

The CL63 AMG and CL635 AMG are the ultra-powerful higher end range cars and come equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine and astounding 514 horsepower. It has a 7-speed automatic adaptive gear transmission and incorporates Active Body Control,

Their safety features are also unique in their design. The anticipatory system enables the Benz to brake before a collision, rolling up the windows and stabilizing the seats. PRE-Safe automatically closes the sunroof, in the event of a rollover.

The exterior of the new CL Class Mercedes Benz has more curves than its predecessors and sports a solid look. This competent class of cars uses top quality interiors with wood trim and leather seats. The only criticism against its design is the long doors making it slightly uncomfortable to double park. The 2- seater at the back is a bit of a tight squeeze and difficult to get in and out of.

The front seats are cooled and an infrared Night vision system is incorporated. The driver is not distracted when changing the CD track as he can control the COMAND system without taking his hand off the wheel. Mercedes have named their “Keyless Go” system to mean exactly what it implies.

While the Kelley Blue Book from the US News and World Report Analysis calls it “a demon of an engine”, it adds, “Even at high speeds the car glides as smoothly as a Venetian gondola, the transmission traveling seamlessly through its seven gears”
