2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Photos Prices Review Specs

The Toyota FJ 40 Cruiser was hailed as the original land cruiser in America. The recent model has much of the charm of the 1958 trend setting Cruiser. In fact, the 2009 Toyota FJ cruiser wins many points in most aspects. The retro-styling has helped to gain the initial interest, while the remaining features have helped the Cruiser sustain that interest. Unique and sporty, this 4 door sports utility model can seat at least 5 passengers comfortably. It is more of an off-road style semi utility vehicle, affordably priced to make it a very strong contender among other SUVs in the market. The three trims are 4X2, 4X4 MT and 4X4 MT. The 2009 Toyota FJ cruiser model comes with rear wheel drive or all wheel drive system.

You don’t have to worry about roaring down a dirt road in this Cruiser. The design of the 2009 Toyota FJ cruiser concentrates on low-maintenance interiors. The rear window styling, front styling and the white roof take you back to the days of the FJ 40. While 17 inch wheels are standard, this model also comes with 16 inch wheels off-road package. Some other features bear a slight resemblance to the Hummer models. The 4.0 Liter V6 engine delivers about 239 hp. For additional power of up to 304 hp, you could ask for a supercharger. This particular land cruiser has a towing capacity of maximum 5000 lb. The 2 upper trims come with a 5 speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is not too good: it hovers between 14-17 mpg for city and 19-21 mpg on highways in the 3 trims. There is a limited-slip rear differential for the rear drive trim.

The control panel is designed for prominence. The water resistant seating material is most useful while spending time travelling. Stand-alone options include Cruise control and keyless entry. The 4-wheel driven trims come with optional off-road traction-control system. The off-road package also includes locking rear differential, an extra air cleaner for the engine, and Bilstein shock absorbers. Safety features are standard, with something new for 2009. For instance, the roll-sensing feature for protecting against side impact, rearview camera and the active head restraints are welcome additions in the 2009 FJ cruiser. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety approves of the side-impact safety and frontal-offset protection.

Overall, this vehicle is a rugged giant that will take you through any road easily, even if loaded fully.
