The Ford Explorer Sport Trac is true to its name, a sports utility vehicle that combines excellent cargo and passenger room with a sporty feel for the ultimate Explorer experience. This midsize pickup comes with many new features for the year 2009. The 2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac stability control now incorporates a new Trailer Sway Control system. Along with this, the smart pickup also adds a Sirius Travel Link and a voice navigation system. The travel link is a great feature with updates on weather, traffic and sports and fuel choice from more than 120,000 stations. All trims have the standard satellite radio for 2009.

The front end is bold, and the C-pillar and wheel design adds to a robust stance. Cargo cage bed extender seems to be a customer favorite, although the Sport Trac does come with a 4.5 foot long cargo bed lined well for carrying any cargo. The power dome aluminum hood is another impressive feature that adds to the rugged good looks of the 2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The door pulls are slightly weird to handle, but the interiors are lovely with good materials if not the best. And yes, the Sync communications system is retained for 2009. Drop-in storage bin, power rear window, leather cover steering wheel, fog lights, illuminated glove box, privacy glass are all standard features.

As for trims, the 4-wheel and rear-wheel drive types come with XLT and Limited trims, while the all-wheel drive system comes only in Limited. The 4L V6 makes 210 hp while the more powerful 4.6L V8 delivers 292 hp. Maneuvering is tough at times, but mostly the drive is smooth. The handling is aided by the independent rear suspension. With good body balance and stability, the Sport Trac survives most road conditions.

At the driver front and passenger front, the Sport Trac scores a perfect five stars out of five in the NHTSA Frontal Crash Test. While airbags, tire pressure monitoring system and anti lock disc brakes with electronic Brake force Distribution are standard, an AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control is also included for rollover safety.

There are several options in the 2009 ford Explorer Sport Trac, including reverse sensing system, power code remote start, power moonroof, premium carpet floor mats, rear seat DVD entertainment and many other standalone options for the customer to choose from. This 5-seater unconventional pickup comes at an MSRP ranging from $25,985 to $33,670.
