2009 Toyota Camry Prices Photos Review Specs

    November 1st, 2008 · No Comments · Toyota

One of the best sellers in America’s medium sized car niche, the Toyota Camry has maintained for more than 20 years an enduring quality that makes it one of a kind. Of course, people may say that competition is increasing by the day, but loyal supporters still root for the exceptional reliability of the Camry. Other seasoned reviewers like Automobile agree that the Camry is “A brand-new, sport SE model meant to address that ‘Wow!’ deficiency.” Such a statement reeks of truth, for indeed, the 2009 Toyota Camry proves its worth with respect to all attributes like fuel economy, performance and comfort. Add to it the assurance of affordability with an MRSP ranging between $19,145 and $28,695.

The mainstream family sedan is mostly a carryover from 2008, but happy customers are already looking to stock up on a second or third Camry! High resale value is an advantage. The muscular midsize 2009 Camry is a 4 door sedan available in 4 different flavors: base version, LE, SE and finally, XLE. With different combinations, the range expands to accommodate 10 trims, ranging from the 2.4 liter l4 158 hp CE 5-Spd MT to the 3.5L V6 6-Spd AT that delivers about 268 hp. It is obvious that there is a Camry for every need. All the trims are front-wheel driven.

As regards fuel economy, the base trims come to 21/31 mpg city/highway, impressive by most standards. Even better, the cars rank low on emissions in standard tests. The smaller 4 cylinder trims operate with 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. The XLE comes with automatic only. V6 engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This 4-door 5-passenger family sedan comes as a PZEV certified version as well. Though extremely serene most of the times, the Camry can perform like an athlete when required, and the acceleration with V6 engine is proof of the sprinting ability.

Standard safety features are observed in the 2009 Toyota Camry, helping it score full marks in the NHTSA Frontal Crash Test for passenger and driver front impact protection. Traction control and stability control are still optional. Interiors are good but don’t beat competition. Though the cabin design concentrates on utility, the materials could have been better in offering a sense of luxury. Go for the upper trims if interiors are a concern. The trunk room is about 15 cu. ft.

For a pleasant drive, spacious interiors and the Toyota reliability, the 2009 Camry is a good choice.
