    November 3rd, 2008 · No Comments · Mercedes-Benz

The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is a seriously classy model that performs with a sports spirit. Elegance and performance, coupled with convenience make this car one to watch out for. Available as a coupe or convertible (Cabriolet), the 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is a luxury car with slight modifications added to the features seen in 2008. As summed up by Automotive.com, “In a word, the CLK is balanced. Its stylish design and elegant interior make it a pleasant place to spend time, and it delivers Mercedes cachet that works in almost any circumstance”.

There are 4 trims offered for the 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class, with 2 coupe levels and 2 Cabriolet levels. These are the CLK350 Coupe, CLK350 Cabriolet, CLK550 Coupe and finally, the CLK550 Cabriolet. Take home any of these trims at an MSRP ranging from $48,100 to $64,800. For such fancy pricing, the 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class does not disappoint. A smart 6-disc CD changer with MP3 capability (glove box mounted) and heated front seats are standard on the 4 trims in 2009. The CLK350 is available as a Grand Edition, only for 500 cabriolets and 500 coupes.

While the CLK350 comes with a 3.5 liter V6 engine that runs at 268 hp, the higher CLK550 trims come with a bigger and better 5.5 liter V6 engine that easily performs at 382 hp. The engines in all trims are mated to a convenient 7-speed automatic transmission (along with a TouchShift manual shift control) for small, quick shifts. Fuel economy is moderate in all trims.

Elegant and stylish on the outside, the handsome CLK350 is not lacking in comfort features, with lovely 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control and plush leather upholstery. As for the upper CLK550 trim, the additional features include rear lip spoiler, a sports suspension and massive 18 inch wheels equipped with performance tires. These features definitely give the CLK a terrific sporty feel on all roads, though it faces competition from BMW 650 and the Jaguar XK. For sheer class, go for the CLK350 but the athletic CLK550 is a bold performer.

The tastefully designed 2009 CLK-Class has a strong focus on safety. The wide array of safety features includes anti-whiplash front head restraints, Emergency assistance system, anti-lock disc brakes (with brake assist), and front side-impact airbags. Of course, the trims come with excellent stability control and traction control systems. In addition, the CLK coupe has front and rear passenger overhead curtain airbags.

With good powertrain options, safety and convenience features, style and sporty feel, the 2009 CLK Class definitely has potential.
