Re: Hi new member from close to adelaide

Hi RRdevil,

still got your Honda. I have just purchased a 919 Fireblade. I used to ride 20 years ago just got back in to it so yes, I am also careful on the roads. I am 49 years old. I gave up the bike for fast cars and flying planes. Let me know if you are still around.

Re: Hi new member from close to adelaide

Gday mate, I also live close to the adelaide hills and recently purchased a 2012 1000RR, I might be biased (rofl) but aren't these just the greatest bike on the planet. With any luck we might catch up and go out on a ride one day, I spend most of my riding time on the gorge and lobethal to norton summit roads, how about you?

Have you set your sag ETC according to the honda racing guide found here Honda Worldwide | HRC | Technical Information | Result. One other thing I noticed is it doen't pay to set your suspension to stiff, with the roads here as rough as they are you need your suspension to be soft enough to absorb most of the bumps.

I did notice before I took it to Hoey it was softer and more easier to steer in the corners BUT! It would have rear wheel wobbles under heavy braking. But no ive been riding a long time, but never joined a forum or had another rider to show me the ropes. I might aswell be a noob

The rear wobbles could be from incorrect damping settings, I noticed my rear wheel would "bounce or pogo stick" until I got the damping set right. From what I gather the spring pre-loads are only there to set the sag, from that point its the compression and extension damping that you adjust to get your ride right. Its also fair to say that the settings that work for one person may well not work for someone else. Correct suspension set-up is a very individual thing, anyway , its just something to bare in mind when you set your bike up. One last thing is tyre pressures make quite a lot of difference too, I use 34 psi rear and 33 psi front, well under the bike manufacturers recommended settings but it works for me so thats what I use.
