954 Blade fuel consumption feature

Gday fellow Aussies, I've got a 954 Blade and have heard that my model has a fuel consumption feature in km/L that appears on the bottom left corner on the dash? AMCN mentioned it in their road test at Phillip Island, maybe they were riding Euro models during the test. I've asked AMCN for advice recently but no news yet. Are there any Aussie 954 riders out there who have any information? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, a German bloke showed me a pic of his dash with it working, maybe we missed out like the Yanks and Poms but they're both using MPH so I reckon it only comes up using KPH in km/L no MPG. I thought setting the clock was difficult! I'll keep scratching my head

Re: 954 Blade fuel consumption feature

Gday Kevo when I push the right control button it changes from celcious to Fahrenheit, or mph or kph, but nothing appearing on the left lower quadrant of the dash, yet does it blink when it appears? I'll have another go now.

Re: 954 Blade fuel consumption feature

When I push the right button it goes from kph to mph and when I hold it, changes the temp gauge, still no luck yet I'll go and see my old man tomorrow and see if two heads can get a result.

Re: 954 Blade fuel consumption feature

Just reading when the speed is under 10kph the reading shows as --, so throw it on the rear race stand and try it or take it for a little run the km/l will recalibrate every 15 seconds according to the manual.

Re: 954 Blade fuel consumption feature

I've been trying with the bike idling in neutral, will the -- display appear @ a stationary speed or do I need the wheel moving so the ecu realizes that a "varying" amount of fuel is being used? I'll let you know how I go tomorrow.

Re: 954 Blade fuel consumption feature

My Blade had been pranged before I got it, and its red and black 03 colours on an 02 model, it should be yellow and black. I can see where the wrecker had marked the forks as 02 954. Maybe the dash was replaced with a UK or US one? So I don't have the fuel consumption feature, oh well I'll fill it up when the light comes on. I got the vehicle history report from the RTA and the mileage adds up. I can put up with that after getting it for 3grand. After market fairings were only $350, I'm still in front and smiling every time I throw a leg over or look @ it. As a mechanic from Woodys told me, "last of the real ones! Future classic hang on to it mate" he's not wrong.

Re: 954 Blade fuel consumption feature

You have probably US model dash. Do you aussies use mph or kph? The euro model that has the fuel consumption feature isn't abble to change between mph and kph but if i got it right the UK model that is abble to change the speedo allso has the fuel feature but it reads miles per litre. Is aussie model abble to change the speedo units?

We use kph in Australia, but my dash will change from kph to mph with a push of the right control button and the temp gauge changes from Celcious to Fahrenheit. I came across an old thread where another Aussie was having trouble getting the km/l to reappear he had come across it while using the left button when resetting the tripmeters. That got me thinking I'll clear both tripmeters and hold the left button while they both read 0.0 might even try the right button then to. I'll keep you informed.

Does your bike read km per litre or miles per litre? And is it an original aussie model?

Re: 954 Blade fuel consumption feature

No reading at all Mika, the lower left corner on the dash is blank, I've had no luck in activating the fuel consumption feature, I'm drowning my sorrows with a few home brewed beers now:-) I'll keep doin research on it though, hopefully I'll see another 954 rider and ask them if they have it working. Or get an Australian owners manual from my local dealer, that may be a bit expensive. If any other Australian owners have the manual post a photo of the instrument functions page.

Re: 954 Blade fuel consumption feature

It's an Australian delivered bike I got the complete vehicle history from the motor registry after I bought it, the mileage adds up (so I doubt the dash was replaced) I'll keep scratching my head. Aswell as doin research.
