Any New York City members on here?

Hello all.
I hope you don't mind me jumping in.

I'm planning on coming across for my first Visit to NYC December 2013.
As you all know local knowledge is priceless, so I'd really appreciate it if any of you would be so good as to have a quick look at my trip planning thread and offer any pointers, especially along the lines of Motorcycle related places of interest (bars/meets/showrooms/anything) to visit while in the city.

We Would like to visit all or most of the following:
Grand central station
Times sq
Downtown Manhattan
Central Park
Yankee Stadium
Empire state building
Prospect Park
Rockefeller center
Flushing Meadows–Corona Park
Chrysler building
Brooklyn Bridge
9/11 Memorial
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
Madison sq Garden (Hoping to catch a Knicks game)

Will 10 days be good period of stay? or too long/short?
Anything we've missed off that jumps out?
What area should I look at staying in and Hotel to use?

tbh it all seems a bit daunting.
Thank you for taking the time to read, I look forward to any replies.

Much appreciated.

Hello I read your post . I'm from NYC. You could probably do this in a week or less if you see a couple of places in a day because everything on your list is with in Manhattan( the center of the city.) Except for the parks. However it will be cold in December, so you might want to rethink the park visits. Since you want to do most things in Manhattan,it makes more sense stay there BUT it's more expensive, rather than staying in an outer part of the city . The good part is the currency exchange is in your favor if you're coming from the UK

Re: Any New York City members on here?

If your going to come to NY, you should visit upstate NY as well, the city is very easy to do in a few days but take a few days and visit peekskill, Fishkill, New Paltz, all the cool places north of the city. I live in New Paltz and im just an hour north of the city and its completely different yet a fun small town

Can't wait to move to NY with my bike next year. So limited here on the island not much places to ride around! I see things in movies all the time but living there is gonna be different.
