Yo what up Al? Another taxed to death soul from CT. Pics of the new girl please. Back in the day I used to blast up Rt8 to Mass, Rt20,23 and 57. Great roads up there in that neck of the woods.

Re: new to the fireblade

another honda convert! yeah coming offa 04 gsxr liter bike will probably feel a little slow. the honda has such a nice over-all quality to it tho. id bet once you get all the way use to it you could run lap times just as fast or faster with your 954. i love the handling and the brakes are second to none from that era. nice n smooth. n im sure youve noticed that honda bikes generally have an edge in build quality over all. nice choice of bike bro, baba would be proud!

Must be nice on fresh pavement, if I ever get my bike finished I'll hit you up and you can show me the new good stuff

Re: new to the fireblade

i feel ya man, i just bought an 03 954 n its pretty much stock, it still had the huge fender n blinkers hanging off it which was first on my list to get rid of! so i put on a hotbodies eliminator on it. everything else is pretty much the way it came so ive got some work to do as well. its getting harder to find exhaust for these bikes but not impossible. keep us informed on what you do end up getting or doing to the bike, im always looking for a fresh take on what direction to go with things!

Re: new to the fireblade

well at least your not 5'10" n 220lbs like me!! lol bike looks nice man, im not a big fan of the color red, probably from my many years of being a kentucky basketball fan(go big blue) and pretty much hating the louisville cardinals(red n black) with as much passion! id ride a red honda dont get me wrong just because its a honda id make that exception just like id make the exception for a ferrari but i think thats about it! so im much more into the black n silver or black n titanium colors, the blue n white were ok. not to piss anyone off with a red honda like i said i would own one. ive been watching flea bay for a decent used pipe thats not the standard readily available pipes which there are only a few of really because the stock pipe is just too quiet. im not super worried about the little bit of hp id gain but the sound of a bike is a big part of the experience for me. nothing sounds like a wide open jap bike! ive had heavily moded mustangs with super charger to built all the way to the fuel management system v-dub jetta n they both sounded awesome but nothing like this old 79 kawasaki kz1000 i had with the vance n hines megaphone pipe n i dont expect my honda to sound like that but the stock pipe kills it. it runs great but needs to be louder!! n yeah its short wheel base attributes to its awesome handling. i had an 06 gsxr 600 n i think it weighed like 5lbs heavier if that gives you an idea. yeah its less bhp than the 04 gsxr liter bike or the r1 less even than the zx9r but its basically a liter bike in a 600 frame n the honda has pretty good mid range punch man. its dyno chart is awesome because the torque curve is right there with the hp n no real craters thru the powerband. ive ridden an 01 gsxr 1000 n i think i can accelerate at least as fast on this honda. i mean you can only use so much of the power on either bike n keep the wheel down n they both have enough power you cant just crank the throttle wide open like a 600. im just saying i dont think any bike would just leave this bike behind n it for real handles like a 600 in the curves. it feels bigger than my 06 gsxr 600 but not heavier n its been a little while since i had the gixxer but it feels like it handles as good or better. turn in seems like just a little more work but the 954 feels quite a bit more stable to me. just my opinion i guess. i looked at an 03 gsxr 1000 before i bought the 954 n it was nice but a lot different. i guess why i ended up with the honda was largely the reliability factor.
