Re: I NEED A MOTOR!

Yours is destroyed beyond rebuilding I take it? Have you checked for local or regional motorcycle salvage yards?

Re: I NEED A MOTOR!

I have checked every salvage yard I can think of in northern california. Every mechanic shop and street rat I know. The chain snapped and cracked the casing, cracked the water pump mount completely off, and bend the water pump into the oil pump which damaged the water basket. Thats what they mechanic told, me however i dont know what it all means. He just said best bet was for me to find a new motor.

They are in SoCal, I'm not exactly sure where Piedmont is.

Re: I NEED A MOTOR!

Well....if you need a motor bad...i am pulling a 96RR motor. uses oil, no clutch basket. need to take it for the new motor. I can take a short video of it running before I gut it if you like. has 48,000 kilometers on it.

Well thank you, however i literally yesterday ordered a motor from a salvage yard paying $1300. I appreciate you offer and still may have something happen with this other one and you may still hear from me. Quick question though what do you mean uses oil and no clutch basket?

Re: I NEED A MOTOR!

that's the reason I'm pulling it. it smokes over 10,000rpm...so it's letting some oil past the rings....burning the oil out...

And i got a motor off of E-bay, but it came with no clutch basket, so I'm taking the one out of my old motor to install in it.

1300 seems a bit steep to me, is it in good shape? I got mine with 7,500 kilomoters on it for $1000cdn, or about 860 us.

Yes the one I am getting is in great shape, 7600 miles, with all electrical, starter, case covers, and all. With a warranty on all mechanical components. And i dont think there is much I can do with a smoking motor, much like you. Thanks though.

And about the R1 motor, no, it will not even come close to fitting, already looked into other oppurtunities.

Re: I NEED A MOTOR!

Yeah, she'd need rings, at the least. ran strong, you could just smell her if you were behind her and it revved over 9,000. good luck with your new motor, hope my new one is good too!
