FS: '88 Hawk GT Race/Track Bike

I'm selling my former race bike, so I can build a track bike. The Hawk works great and is a lot of fun to ride. It is a great way to get on the track and learn to ride without scary power.

Details:
Engine was built by JD Hord, to endurance specifications so I didn't over stress things and the engine lasts. There are 2 race seasons and some track time on the engine but runs strong, no oil burn, or any signs of losing powerl. It still has the starter and charging system.

Front suspension is off of a 1990 VFR750, including forks, wheel, and brakes. Forks are sprung for a 190lb rider and have gold valves (I'm sorry didn't know better ... but they work real well )

Rear has a Fox shock and Hawk wheel

Exhaust is M4. The canister is a little scratched up from a low-side in the rain, but no real damage.

Bodywork is by SharkSkins and is in great shape (no rash). It has been used a couple seasons, so not perfect either, but pretty close.

Tires have some life left. I have some gearing options that will come with it.

That is most of what I can think of now. I'll add pictures soon, and more notes when I think of them, or if you have a question let me know.

I can deliver to Grattan, as I plan to have the bike there.

Asking $2000, which should be a bargain for a fun bike like this.

Some pictures I took today:

Bump.

Added some more information and pictures.

Also note that this does have a clean title ... for anyone considering a fun commuter bike.

Not unless it was updated in a very comprehensive manner. But I really wish they'd do it.

In the right hands this one is an SV killer. This one has beat more than its share of SV's around Grattan .... and I'm not that good. With somewhere around 60HP and and a well sorted suspension, it works just fine thank you, even against 70HP SV's.

Re: FS: '88 Hawk GT Race/Track Bike

Bump ... still have it. I can also deliver to a reasonable distance. Make me an offer.

Couple notes:
  • The suspension is tuned for a 190lb rider/gear combined weight
  • On the "SV killer", my meaning is this is a capable motorcycle that may be an underdog against a similarly prepared SV, but when ridden well can more than compete. Being rider friendly is at least as important as full on performance during the development process
  • Makes a great learning racer bike and/or reliable track bike

Bump ... still taking up space in the garage. Make an offer before it gets parted.

Already picked up too much, need to cull the herd

On my way to the WDGH, VFR gathering in VT/NH and will be meeting up with a friend from Columbus in Cleveland and loading up his bike next to my VFR. Unfortunately time and some of his health concerns prohibit riding out this year.

Yes, sort of. It has 2mm over pistons, so it is closer to 700 now. Strong, good torque, and a lot of fun in the twisty bits of the track.

<threadjack> Sorry to hear Alan isn't up for the ride out this year to WDGH. Have a great time and say hello to the Vifferatti for me!

He's going, just not up for the 400+ mile days to get there ... and still be able to function when the roads get nice. I'll say hi for you ... Oh, and what is your CC number, I'll buy a round for you, I know you'd do that if you were there
