FS: Red/Black 2001 CBR929 in Denver, CO

FS: Red/Black 2001 CBR929 in Denver, CO

•~14k miles (mostly highway from long trips/weekends. No work commuting.).
•Only one original experienced lightweight adult owner.
•Comes with all orig. doc., shop manual (Honda), key and backup key, toolkit etc.
•Bone stock except for Scotts steering damper and trimmed rear fender.
•Never been down, no accidents, no dents, no wheelies, no stoppies, super clean.
•Have all the receipts for all the maintenance.
•Comes with box of genuine Honda oil filters + oil filter ratchet socket to torque the filter.
•Everything has always been torqued according to Honda specifications.
•New genuine Honda air filter/cleaner in air bowl.
•Always in a heated garage.
•Minimum sun exposure.
•Cleaned and waxed after every ride.
•New Metzeller Sportec M1 tires
•Comes with stands for front and rear wheel (used for tire replacements)
•Battery has always been “tendered”.
•Comes with actual battery tender (leads installed in the underseat trunk)
•In Westminster, Colorado (20 mins north-west of Denver)

So basically this is the perfect used CBR929. It was licked clean after every ride, always 100% sheltered and I rode it like my 95 y/o grandma would (I’ve always been respectful of the bike’s performance, to a point of fearing it).

Pictures can be found under my picture gallery (on this site!), and I can provide additional ones. But like I said before, because it was always sheltered from the sun, the bike looks new.

$5500

I need to ask you guys something.

When you sell a bike and somebody's interested, do you let them try the bike?

What if they take off?

What if they don't have insurance?

What if they crash it?

(Perhaps here is not a good place to post this).

Thanks for any info. Cheers!

EDIT: I actually have somebody interested in the bike, that's why I am writing this.

only let them try the bike if you have cash in your hands. that way if they ride off or crash they bought it. they should already know what they are gettin into if theyre buyin a liter bike.

I'd only let someone ride my bike if I held on to the full amount until they got back. Otherwise,

There have actually been a few cases where people just brazenly rode off on a running bike...so I def. wouldn't chance it.

why put off today what you can wake up late and forget to do tomorrow.

Yeah. I am just wondering though, am I supposed to just tell him that the bike runs like new, and hope he trusts me? I mean, if I buy a used bike, I want to know all is well with it. Trying it is the only way, no?

Perhaps I could sign him a document that says that all is well with the bike?

Re: FS: Red/Black 2001 CBR929 in Denver, CO

I think depending on the price and the laws of your state, you are responsible for the first x days of proper operation or something similar. In my state, unless sold 'as-is' the previous seller liability exists for 15 days.

There has to be some good faith when buying/selling, and if he is that antsy to ride it or something for himself - then something is up. You can ride it around a parking lot, up the street, whatever...it's not hard to get an idea about a bike from how it sounds. Granted a shake-down run would be nice but I've never had a problem buying used as long as I have a good chance to look around it. I've never test ridden...

I would say that as long as your cooperative within reason to meet his requests for validity of the state of the machine mechanically, it's a give/give...if he wants to buy the bike he has to accept your word. Don't let greed get the better of ya. But if you really do trust him, let him take it for a spin. Just take the pile of cash first as a deposit.

why put off today what you can wake up late and forget to do tomorrow.
