929 clutch friction plates

Anyone have any idea how long a set of friction plates should last in a 929?

Re: 929 clutch friction plates

Depends on how rough you are with it. I've never had to replace em in any of my bikes, and I do a lot of clutch wheelies etc. If you do a lot of drag starts, not so long.

If the bike isn't braking properly, you don't start by rebuilding the engine.

Re: 929 clutch friction plates

22k Not really. But depending on how clutch was used. Could wear a clutch in 60,000 or 4,000 depending on usage

Are you experienceing clutch slippage?

Re: 929 clutch friction plates

No, but when pulling away in first from a standstill and gradually letting the clutch out I feel four or five knocks from the engine.

The life of the engine generally, say 100,000kms at least. Less than that probably indicates abuse.

Maybe a broken plate.
Pull the cover and have a look if you're concerned.
