Re: Too much power....

It's amazing what a few years of technology can do.

Did you do a comparison of with torque specs and actual, usable power? I would say that the usable power on the R6 drops the torque - well the horsies too for that matter. That thing is claiming to make those numbers at somewhere around 17,000 RPM. No one will be able to safely hit the 17,000RPM mark on the street - in my opinion that is.

Re: Too much power....

Yeah... your right --- all high end power. 17,500 Red Line....

Makes you also wonder how long an engine will last at that RPM.

Re: Too much power....

I have a hard time believing those hp numbers after their little "redline" stunt. The R1 was supposed to have 180hp too, remember?

Re: Too much power....

Hey... another thought.... they all must be tooo tired of getting whacked by the 600rr... you may have to replace the pistons every year - but, yeah... it'll beat the honda....

damn I'm loyal....

Re: Too much power....

Actually.... nobody's officially talking about the HP numbers on the new R6. 133 HP was stated by the Yamaha Factory rep at the recent Detroit Motorcycle Show.... I've noticed all the new 'first rides' articles... I.e. sport-rider have refrained from giving any data.

Re: Too much power....

I have a very hard time imagining 133 hp from the R6. Last I remember (been a while, but not that long) the 600s were putting out 110 or so. Yamaha has a great line, but they are definatly full of **** some times.

Re: Too much power....

133Hp = Maybe with the kit ECU, on an engine dyno with a 50 horse fan blowing dry -20 air into the airbox with an external water pump and in Lalaland.

And then there's this asshole...

Re: Too much power....

I saw somewhere on the web a few weeks ago that someone put an'06 R6 on
a dyno. It made like 113 hp. If I can find the post I will put up a link.

Here is it
http://www.socalsportbikes.info/xmb/...ge=1#pid515506

But it is a modded R6.

Re: Too much power....

remember too, that 133 954 hp spec is power to the ground, the r6 is power at the crank.

Re: Too much power....

These "at the crank with full ram-air effect" ratings are a huge crock. I wish they'd use a standardized measurement.

And then there's this asshole...
