Power lost from crank to rear wheel

Sense most dyno numbers I'm seeing are rear wheel horsepower, I was wondering if anyone knew what the power loss was from the crank to the wheel? More specifically an 08 liter bike.

Re: Power lost from crank to rear wheel

rule of thumb is 15% for cars but I am not sure that holds true for a bike as the drive train is far lighter and less complex. I would go with 10%

Re: Power lost from crank to rear wheel

Thats what I was thinking. On a previous post someone had a dyno sheet claiming 164 horse at the wheel. That would be like 193 at the crank. Does that seem right?

Re: Power lost from crank to rear wheel

seems like a lot. 164 at the wheel I would think would be maybe 180s crank.

Re: Power lost from crank to rear wheel

I think Honda claims 178bph on the 08 blade..

178* .85= 151.3rwhp
178* .88= 156.64rwhp +/- 4% right from the factory..

Those conversion factors are mostly for cars but my 08 did dyno around those numbers..

That sounds more realistic. Thanks
