Clutch problems!!

Can someone help me please? I bought a new clutch cable for my 2000 CBR 600 F4 after I had put it on I had no clutch what so ever so i thought the shift rod had poped out of place so I checked it and the spring looked bad so I replaced it and still no clutch!! So I decided to get the manuel out and see what it had to say so I then check the Friction plates and found that the first and the last friction plate should be different from the others and they are all the same would this keep the clutch from working properly?

Re: Clutch problems!!

did it work before you changed the clutch cable out?

How long have you had the bike? what made you change the cable?

Re: Clutch problems!!

Thanks for the reply. I have bought the bike about 6 months ago. Yes it did work before I changed the cable. It needed to be adjusted but it was as far as it could go and the end of the cable where it connects to the shift rod was starting to fray. So I orderd a new cable.

Re: Clutch problems!!

if it worked before i would check cable adjustment etc, make sure your getting full travel at the clutch cover when you pull the lever, not having the right clutch plates could cause problems but if it suddenly quit when you changed out the cable my money says its in the cable and maybe the rod that actuates the clutch

Re: Clutch problems!!

When you say the rod that actuates the clutch are you talking about the rod that comes out of the clutch bascket that she shift rod raps around?

Re: Clutch problems!!

thats the end result but check that the rod that your cable attaches to (the one that acuates the piece coming out of the clutch basket). Make sure when you pull the lever its moving like it should, then check that its not chipped/broken and that its catching the head of that pin to pull it.
